Autonation Subaru Carlsbad responded

The customer approved the repairs when he first arrived at the dealership for $ 270.00, the customer found a coupon on line that was obviously a mistake that said the major service would only cost $ 55.00 which is not even the cost of a oil change. Our web site also states that price may very for this exact reason. We apologizes for this mistake and gave the customer a 20 % discount. We have corrected the problem and also have checked all pricing so this does not happen again. The customer also had the chance to decline the repairs if he feel this repair was over priced when he called in but said to move forward with the repairs .

It wasn’t a coupon. I booked the service directly on the Bob Baker website for the advertised price of $55, and I signed off on the service estimate with the understanding from Bobby that if I could substantiate the online price of $55 when I returned for pickup, the rate would be honored. I proceeded to provide proof of the website booking for $55, and when I presented this proof to Norman upon my return for pickup, he told me it was an IT mistake and that I still owed the full $270. Further - it wasn’t a major repair - it was a standard 60k-mile check. No one called me to approve of any additional costs. And I wasn’t given 20% off. They acted like they did me a favor by taking $15 off my bill, which is more like 5%. The dealer’s response to this review is exactly what I’m talking about regarding their lack of integrity. They have an “excuse” and an asterisk with fine print for everything. No accountability whatsoever, and that’s just sad. (They also suggested about $2,500 worth of repairs that aren’t at all necessary according to my cousin who runs a shop in Vista.)
