Nice people, clean environment, excellent mechanics The service people are very nice and polite and I think highly of the two gentlemen I associate with servicing my X5--Rainer Will and the technician. The service people are very nice and polite and I think highly of the two gentlemen I associate with servicing my X5--Rainer Will and the technician. I owe the technician an apology for not knowing his name but he is an excellent technician, perhaps the best BMW technician one could have. Rainer was nice in loaning me a car since I do not live in Topeka and my car was not going to be ready the same day because of the service recalls they had to fix. They are honest. I told them to fix my spotlights that weren't working. But Rainer came back to inform me that the lights were fine, and that I had inadvertently pushed the wrong button. If they were dishonest, they would have taken advantage of me and charged me. Great job, and thank you! I look forward to hearing from them to fix the remaining part of the service recall. Thanks to Melissa Reno for helping set up the initial appointment. More
Service Manager Rainer Will the service manager is a real jerk. I purchased 3 keys from the parts department. ( The guys in the parts department are top notch. They Rainer Will the service manager is a real jerk. I purchased 3 keys from the parts department. ( The guys in the parts department are top notch. They will go above and beyond to help you. They are friendly and patient.) Once I picked up the keys I went to service to attempt to get them programmed to my 2012 Beetle. This lazy jerk immediately says no. So I ask if I can come in the next day which is Friday. He immediately says no. He never looked at anything or checked any schedule. He then says I can bring it in Saturday. I explained to him the I drive over the road and rarely get into town. I ask him if I can sit and wait for an opening even if it takes all day and he says no. I said that I knew programming keys is a 20 to 30 minute process and asked him again if he could talk with his techs and try to work me in and explained that I would have to take my business to Omaha if he couldn't help me and that I'd really like to keep it in Topeka. He said he didnt care and take it somewhere else. I couldn't believe it. So I stormed out and then remembered i needed a few interior trim pieces so i went back to parts and ordered them. I then again went to the service department to attempt to plead my needs and Rainer Will was away. Melissa was on the phone. A seemingly nice man who was well dressed wearing a BMW shirt asked me how he could help me and I said I would like to get my keys programmed. He nicely said Melissa would be glad to help me once she got off the phone. He told me to enjoy the free sodas and snacks (in the very nice waiting area) while I wait. Then Rainer Will walked in and the man told him to help me. Rainer Will immediately said he was out looking at the schedule and found me an open appt. But he hadn't looked at anything. He was putting on a show in front of the other man. Next day: The service manager was gone and Melissa was there. She is fantastic. The tech couldn't get the keys to program right. He said 3 were programmed but one was bad explained thru Melissa. Bummer. 2 weeks later I return to do it again. Melissa again was 5 star in professionalism manner attitude helpfulness etc. They were able to program all 4 keys from the previous visit and unable to program the new key they ordered to replace the previous issue. Weird but now I have 4 working keys. A week later I go in to see about having 4 locking lights removed. Melissa again was awesome. Then Rainer Will comes in and says they will charge me 30 bucks to remove 4 lugnuts and 9 bucks each for new ones. 2 hours later they tell me their master set of keys is missing the one they need and that they ordered a new one. They say they will call me when it comes in. I called vw in omaha, kansas city, and Lawrence and all three advise me they will remove them for free and all 3 locations were super friendly about it. I drove to Baxter VW in Lawrence and 10 minutes later I left happy. Bought 4 lugnuts/bolts for 13.00 at O'Reilly's. Let me add I had the same two issues with a Jetta a year or so ago but I dealt with Rainer will and his techs in the shop. Techs were awesome and programmed my keys and turned on my cruise control. Rainer will was a jerk then too. He was mad that I told him Eddie sent me and told me to ask them to turn on the cruise while they were programming the keys. It takes 1 second literally. I returned a few weeks later and the techs at that time were happy to pull me in and let me find the right key from their master kit and zipped them off for me no charge. The tech even gave me 4 lugnuts/bolts and didnt charge me a dime. Rainer Will wasnt there on that visit. See a pattern? Rainer Will = trouble. No Rainer Will = Ease More

The part they needed wouldn’t arrive until 3pm the next day, so I was told to keep the loaner overnight. The repair took long enough that the dealership was officially closed, but the seevice representative stayed until I arrived to pick up my car. This kind of service is why I drive a BMW. More
Service The service department appears first rate and so much easier than going into Kansas City. Top shelf waiting room and very friendly staff. Also at first for my warranty they had my name wrong but the employees had jumped through some obsticals to make sure it was covered for me and I thank them a lot for this. They make sure you’re taken care of and the name issue could have been my fault to with not speaking clearly but they do great work I’ll definitely be bringing my car back to them thank you so much! Where Factory Certified Means Nothing - Volkswagon of Topeka I purchased a 2015 “Factory Certified” VW Passat TDI from this dealer online for my daughter who will be graduating college in May. I live approximate I purchased a 2015 “Factory Certified” VW Passat TDI from this dealer online for my daughter who will be graduating college in May. I live approximately an hour away so gave a deposit to hold the vehicle and upon my arrival took the car for a test drive. The first time I stepped on the brake the vehicle had diminished braking capacity, a pulsating brake pedal, and I heard a grinding sound. The salesman made up some reason like its cold, but agreed to have the service manager look at it. It was relayed to me, by the salesman, that the service manager, Rainer was very sorry and would correct the problem immediately. Thinking it was 2 1/2 year old vehicle, factory trained technicians handling the repair, and a “Factory Certified” vehicle they would have no problem correcting this issue; although wasn’t there an inspection completed on this car? I proceeded with the purchase and had a pleasant experience with both the salesman, Hearne and finance manager, Will. When everything was completed I got in the car and headed home. I noticed a slight grinding sound but no pulsating of the pedal. At this point the dealership had two opportunities to correct this problem 1) The certification process and 2) My test drive feedback in which they took some corrective action. What I found after the fact was alarming to say the least. This car was part of the emissions recall, and as such sat unused for an extended period during which the rotors rusted severely. New brake pads were installed and the rust from the old rotors quickly embedded into the new pads. The front rotors were replaced because I complained about a pulsating brake pedal and poor braking which should have been picked up during the 112 point inspection process (It clearly says Brake Rotors / Calipers: Operation / Condition). I was given a car with severely rusted rear rotors and rust embedded in all the brake pads. In the following days I spoke to the General Manager, Paul Levin in an effort to resolve this issue. Paul spent the majority of time telling me everything he wouldn’t do followed by “Let me turn your frown upside down” – He refused to authorize me to take the car to any local VW dealer for a visual inspection or repair, didn’t want me to send him a picture highlighting the issue, but wanted me to return the car and leave it with them. Based on the time to travel back and forth to Topeka twice and my lack of confidence in this dealerships desire to actually fix this problem, I decided to eat the costs and have it repaired properly. I paid for the repairs myself and have written this off as an unfortunate car buying experience; perhaps I can save you from the same. I should have read the reviews myself as another review indicates two bent wheels on a “so-called” certified BMW from this dealer. Word of mouth is still the best marketing and don’t let Paul turn your smile upside down go find another dealer. More
Service department terrible I will never take a car here again for service. First time two years ago they had my BMW for 2 weeks and after $1000 charge I drove it off the lot and the check engine light went on and idled horribly within 2 miles. I called them immediately and was told they knew this but that wasn't what I brought the car in for and I would have to leave it another week or so. I reluctantly just took car in for evaluation last week hoping to have a better experience. WRONG. I was quoted $129 diagnostic but somehow that grew to over $300 without my approval to diagnose what is wrong. Having my car towed to a different shop. You should do the same! More
