I've been a long time customer of Betten Baker, and gone to them for nearly all of the work on me vehicle. I always thought I was treated fairly even if they weren't necessarily the cheapest. HOWEVER, my recent experience has made me seriously reconsider ever going there again. A few months ago, I was having issues with my exhaust and went in to have it repaired. Just recently I had to take my vehicle in because the exhaust was having issues again. I have always tried to keep up with vehicle maintenance, and there were a few additional minor maintenance issues that I approved work for as well. Every time I called for an update, it seemed like there was either another problem with the vehicle, or delay in the work, or I was just unable to get in contact at all. For example, there was paperwork that had been filled out stating work had been completed BEFORE the work had actually been started that resulted in a delay. Someone also messed up the order for the parts they needed that resulted in yet another delay. The initial quote for work was a little over $2000, but every time I approved work, they suddenly found something to call about that needed to be done. When I finally got my car back, I noticed a strong smell coming through the vents that had not been there before, and the very next day my vehicle broke down on the side of the road and had to be towed back. another $1300 later, they stated that the issue had been unrelated to their previous work even though they had done work on both the air filter and manifold, and easily could have damaged the throttle body in the process (especially considering that there were no issues with the throttle body prior to me bringing my car in, nor did they find any issues with it during their full inspection the first time). By the end of everything, I had pay nearly $6000 for repairs that would have been better spent as a down payment on a new vehicle had they been upfront about the work that needed to be done from the start. I had to take a week off of work and lose income because of the numerous delays. And to top it all off, I was overcharged when I paid because she entered the incorrect amount. I was forced to choose between being charged a second time for the correct amount and waiting 24-48 hours for the first charge to be reversed (potentially resulting in my account being overdrawn and creating numerous financial issues), OR taking the loss and having the difference put on a gift certificate that I don't intend to use. The only reason I gave two stars rather than just one was because I was provided with a rental vehicle for ONE DAY at no charge because of all the delays. Overall, I would NOT recommend having work done here. More
