"FINALLY A PURCHASE AFTER DOING MY HOMEWORK"

I have been doing my car buying homework more seriously over the last six months. I sought my Out the Door (OTD) price for a new FWD Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. I also checked out Subaru, Kia, and Hyundai SUVs. My earlier homework was for the best deal on a 2018 model and did not result in a purchase. I provided feedback for three of my late May and August 2018 experiences on DealerRater They were with Bennett Chevrolet (+), Burns Honda (-), and Woodbury Nissan (-). I always wanted to get their best price the first time and not get tangled up in the ‘I’ll beat anybody else’s price’ game. My latest efforts came down to three dealers (Elkins and Barlow in NJ and NuCar in DE) I found out about Barton Chevrolet by accident from another dealer. It was a great time to buy a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox because of the 16% off of MSRP from Chevrolet making possible a real ‘apples to apples’ comparison including valid discounts, rebates, trade-in, and available FWD vehicles with the features I wanted. Numerous emails, phone calls, and texts were done to get the best pricing to minimize the usual in-dealer lengthy back and forth. I knew what my target price was and started with Elkins. Their last offer was about the same cost as NuCar but they only had models that had an option(s) I didn’t want. I knew both remaining dealers had the SUV I wanted available. Barlow was my next stop. There my car was quickly appraised, the color of the new car seen and picked, and their offer made. There were no expensive ‘dealer add-ons’ that I experienced during my Honda and Nissan dealership visits in August. After a few factual exchanges, we agreed to a price and I got the Equinox I wanted from their showroom. I didn’t feel the need to go to NuCar in DE so I canceled my Friday afternoon appointment with them. Randy Gordon was my POC throughout, Scott Eckenhoff was the Sales Manager, and Dan Michielli was the Financial Manager. They treated me in a non-hurried, very friendly, professional, and truthful manner. I met Ed Barlow Jr. several times during the visit. The one-time sit-down with Scott and Randy to reach agreement was a real departure from my past back and forth ‘Let me talk to my manager’ experiences over the years. Dan did the same to complete the paperwork. Not a waste of my time and no B S. Thanks Randy! Now that Barlow earned the sale to me, they will get my loyalty as a Customer to go back to them for future service; just as I have done for each of my past new car buys. My last new car buy involved over 7 years of service. A superb car buying experience! Summary: Best actual car buying experience in my life. I am now driving a 2019, not a 2018, SUV. They said I can get my car serviced at the Barlow Buick dealership much closer to my home (sure to be hundreds of miles less driving in the future). Only a less than $10 for 6 months increase in my car insurance. Rewards points for future use.

Had an 8:15 appointment today (10/3) for 15,000 mile maintenance - oil / filter change and tire rotation. I was on the road by 9:00 AM - less than 45 minutes! Great Service! Also received multi point inspection read out - dealer service is very thorough - highly recommend Barlow Chevrolet.

"Great dealership"

I purchased a low mileage - used 2014 Sonic LS hatchback, and I absolutely love the car. It handles great and is fun to drive! My salesman was Frank, and he was a pleasure to deal with. A few months later I brought my car back for an oil change..Teresa the service rep was friendly and very professional and the service was excellent. I highly recommend Barlow Chevrolet!

"Very disappointing experience!"

Very disappointing experience! me and my husband went to the dealership to look at two trucks, which one of them he found on line and he was very interested. We test drove both vehicles 2011 Chevy Silverado for around $21,000 and then the 2011 GMC sierra with price Doug $25,995. Dave was our sales person and he was very nice, when we ask for a price of the GMC he looked up on his phone and it was 27,995. So we ask him why is it on the car the lower price? He said he will go and check with dad used car sales manager. Never met least professional car manager in my life!!! After just two minutes of him talking we did not want to do any business with Barlo dealership! When I asked about the price he blamed it on his sales people that they didn't rip the price tag off the car and that wasn't a real price even when all of the warrantees we're on it. In front of me and my husband took the tag off and rip it off the window. He said the car is almost $28,000 and he's not going to sell for $25 995. The lack of professionalism is unbelievable! We were ready to buy the truck that day however because of the negativity of the used car sales manager which has no clue about his inventory and blames everything on everybody but himself , We do not want to do business with people like that. He should not be a manager! He cannot take responsibility for his errors! If the lower price was in the price which should be there, I told him he should've made sure to check the car before he put it on the lot, so he said he's not able to look over all the cars . What does it say about used car sales manager which doesn't have any control over maybe 30 preowned vehicles on his lot! He routines to sell for Dave ! Very disappointing! Mike is a very negative person and from the start he made sure the sales person does not have the deal, didn't even invite us insight to discuss the numbers ! Just said we have nothing to talk about if we are counting on buying the car for the $25,000! Whoever will read does reveal should think twice about doing business in this place with this particular person. And the GM of the company should think twice if that person should be a manager !!!

SERVICE WAS ADAQUTE WITH THE LEASED VEHICLE. AFTER SOME PHONE CALLING THINGS GOT STRAIGHTEN OUT. I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CORPORATE OFFICE, NOT BARLOW THEMSELVES. SALES REP RAY CAREY WAS VERY PLEASURABLE AND GREETED US EVERY TIME WE CAME IN. HE TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF US WHEN WE BOUGHT OUR CAR. HE WAS VERY HELPFUL HELPING MY FATHER OUT TO BUY A CAR AS WELL. MY FATHER IS HANDICAPED AND RAY ASSISTED HIM IN EVERY WAY. TPONOTCH SALESREP.
