I own an outback but didn't purchase it from Bertera. I usually use my own trusted mechanic for the work I need, however, I had an exhaust leak and my mechanic reluctantly referred me to the dealer. The I usually use my own trusted mechanic for the work I need, however, I had an exhaust leak and my mechanic reluctantly referred me to the dealer. The service department at Bertera handed me their diagnostic report which included it was the catalytic converter that need to be replaced, letting me know that the cost for the part and labor would cost me a little over $4000 and it could take up to a month to get the part. Based on this information, I inquired about the trade-in value Bertera would give me for my Outback, if I chose not to do the work and use their trade-up program. The sales manager gave me a $7000 trade-in vale which of course was very low and was based on the information from the service department. After their diagnostic work, I consulted my mechanic again and went to another trusted mechanic. Both mechanics quoted me a price for under $800! The catalytic converter was not the problem! They lied, took advantage of me, and provided me with fraudulent information. I would NEVER go to Bertera for anything, they are not to be trusted! More

This part o I took my subaru in to perform a safety recall on the passenger side airbag. They completed the service and gave me a loaner for the day. This part of the process was simple, easy, and customer service oriented. However, when i received a phone call from a Service Center employee. I was told that they found a few issues during their routine inspection. I was told that the drive belt was cracking and was in need of replacement. I was quoted just over $300.00 dollars to perform this service. I declined the service. When I inspected the drive belt I found it to be in perfect working order. There were no cracks, fluid, or any other sign of a close to failing drive belt. I could even still read the part number on the belt. So, I was lied to. The part did not need to be changed. Further, based on the condition of the bolts holding the belt cover in place it is extremely unlikely that they even checked the drive belt, or many of the other parts they claim in their routine inspection. Fortunately I am proficient enough with my vehicle to double check against their claims but I know many people who are not and would have paid out a good chunk of change for a repair which was unnecessary. it is safe to say that I will not be returning to Bertera Subaru Hartford as a customer in any capacity; service, sales, nor parts. Feel cheated with Tires for life program Bertera subaru I bought my Subaru in 2016 and was told that, Tires for life program was supposed to be free as long you got the car serviced by Bertera. I got the ca I bought my Subaru in 2016 and was told that, Tires for life program was supposed to be free as long you got the car serviced by Bertera. I got the car serviced as per their terms and when I was due for the tire change. they told me that only $600.00 is what you are elgibile for and the Tires price was something like 968.00. I ended up paying extra for tires in addition to the mounting and alignment charges. At the time you purchase the car, It was never written that you are eligible for only $600.00 (max). Beware. I worked with Antony in the Service department and let him know that it was not right. He did not bother to address and said these are the terms and conditions. I am looking to buy another subaru for my child. I will definitely not go here as everything is hidden and the truth is not spoken upfront. More

This was the closest dealer and crossed my fingers that they would even take me with no appointment. I called and spoke with Kyle. He was friendly and said to come right down. The rest of the experience was with Marlon George. He was very friendly and willing to help. He took me right in and came to me after an hour of troubleshooting and discussed the issues. His technical experience was limited but he was able to get the additional information I requested and we agreed on the scope and cost of the repair. Unfortunately they didn't have the part in stock and they were out of loaner cars. Without hesitation, Marlon arranged for an Enterprise rental car, so that I could get to my business meeting and also get home that night, over 150 miles away! Marlon called me that afternoon to let me know the status and he kept me updated on when the car would be ready 2 days later. Marlon even washed my car for me, HIMSELF. And he actually did a really good job. Overall I was very impressed with the entire experience. Most dealers won't accept a "walk-in" without a service appointment. These guys recognized that I had an emergency and was far from home, and took care of me professionally. Why not 5 stars? Upon inspection when I got home, the harness that plugs into the brake fluid reservoir was tucked out of the way and left disconnected. No lights indicating this as I am guessing it's a normally open connection when full so a low-level condition would allow the float to make contact and create an alarm. I took a photo and sent it to 2 trusted experts, each with over 20 years mechanical experience, and it took each of them a while to figure out that the harness wasn't plugged in. So I would guarantee that 99% of most customers would NEVER discover this themselves. This would mean a low brake fluid condition would not get any indication on the dash. I plugged it back in myself, no big deal, but it was missed. Everything else was great. I've been to MANY dealers with several brands, and this ranks high for Subaru dealers. Not the highest, but high. More
"Free Tires For Life"? Ha - don't be fooled I bought my 2013 Subaru Outback in December 2012 and was very excited about my new car and the “Free Tires For Life” program. Well here it is January I bought my 2013 Subaru Outback in December 2012 and was very excited about my new car and the “Free Tires For Life” program. Well here it is January 2017 and I have been denied my “Free Tires For Life”!! I have been jerked around by the service department for the past 3 oil changes, saying I still had too much tread. I drove the whole winter on tires with less than acceptable tread. I drive an hour to work each way and have 78,000. miles on the original tires. I have had all the services required at Bertera – just not timely enough according to them to qualify. When I bought my car I was told I needed to have my services done at Bertera, which I have and not one time did a service person mention that services had to be done at a certain time or I would not qualify for the tires. I even had unnecessary and costly services but I let them do them so I could get my tires. They are telling me the program is with an outside vendor and they have no control over the decision that was made… Really????? Bertera is the one offering and advertising this program – there are signs everywhere. I will never go back there for anything and would never recommend them to anyone!! More
