My granddaughter, Katie, needed a car to get to and from home, college and her job. We had been sharing my car over the summer, but with her new schedule starting 9/7 we knew that would no longer be an opti home, college and her job. We had been sharing my car over the summer, but with her new schedule starting 9/7 we knew that would no longer be an option. She had spoken to a sales person at Barry's about a car and asked me if we could just "check it out". (I became a bit anxious and nervous at this point - knowing how high pressured car salesmen can be!!) We had looked at a number of cars, too much money - needs work - no financing available, etc., so I agreed to just take a look, but told her it would probably cost WAY TOO MUCH. We met with her "new best friend Roger" Pinsonnault - the salesman she had spoken to on the phone. Little did I know that meeting Roger would be one of the most remarkable and outstanding experiences I would have during my lifetime! Because of Roger's never ending perseverance, constant effort, hard work and determination KATIE GOT HER CAR!!! Roger even came in and met with us on his day off, to go over options with us. On two separate occasions Katie was sure she WOULD NOT get her beautiful car. On Friday 09/02/2011 Katie drove her beautiful Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback out of Barry's parking lot on "cloud nine". Katie and I learned a real lesson through this whole experience. If you believe in yourself, and trust people to believe as well, anything can happen. I should also mention that Stephen F. Marchand was a tremendous help as well. He did most of the financial work and made that happen when we never thought it would. Everyone we met during this experience were such fine and caring people. I would highly recommend Barry's to anyone that needs a car. More
I have been buying cars from the Barry family since 1976. I have been treated like a family member. I have purchase every car in my family through Barrys and now my older children are customers too. I have I have been treated like a family member. I have purchase every car in my family through Barrys and now my older children are customers too. I have always researched the car I want to buy and checked prices around the state. each time, the decision was easy. Barry's prices were always competitive, add to that thery were close by, as well as knowing I have always been treated right in the service department. Tomm Nasser, head of the service department, treats his customers honestly and fairly. I will continue to buy my cars from Barry, and won't hesitate to recommended them More
A job well done. There was a dispute over the financing since it involved USAA but overall we did come to an agreement by contract. Mike Do Couto did a fine job and worked efficiently and rapidly to meet m since it involved USAA but overall we did come to an agreement by contract. Mike Do Couto did a fine job and worked efficiently and rapidly to meet my needs. The dashboard lights are not working and the car will be taken in on 6 Dec. Hopefully, this is not a sign of future problems. I am confident that Barry Nissan will meet my needs without any hassles. Steve and Chris also were amenable to my financial needs and worked with USAA to ensure that my price was met. More
This dealership is starting to get a reputation for taking your car, letting you do an "extended test drive" to put pressure to buy. They took advantage of my elderly parents this way telling them t taking your car, letting you do an "extended test drive" to put pressure to buy. They took advantage of my elderly parents this way telling them to drive the car for a couple days and then trying to force them into purchasing it by making them feel the deal was already done. Then they played games with the numbers on paper. Giving them almost 10,000 dollars for a trade worth 2,000 and then putting money into extended warranties, service fees, etc. If you do (for whatever reason) buy from them, either pay cash or have the check in hand, unless you are up for a few rounds of the nut in the shell game. I am a systems programmer, and I was confused after about two minutes, and I have purchased five other new cars before and I have never witnessed accounting like this. WATCH WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING. The financing was done by me, and with my 850-something credit rating, at the last minute they wanted me to sign up for a 12.99% finance rate complete with a $3,000 add-on 3/36000 powertrain only warranty that basically mirrored the full 3/36000 bumper to bumper warranty the car already came with. They also like to let you sit around a lot during the sales transaction to wait for: (insert one) them waiting on another customer / while they ask their manager how much they can sell the car for / make copies of all your personal information so they can hound you for the next several weeks about buying the car etc. Then the nearly bald tires the car came with that they promised to replace were not replaced (they were willing to pass inspection on it, but nobody else was) so it was a hassle getting them to replace the tires, then other things they were supposed to do after the sale they didn't do.. Just an overall hassle. This place has quite a reputation with the locals which I assume is why they advertise so much off the island. I wouldn't buy from them again. More
