This is a reflection of CarMax more than any individual. I think if your car doesn't have issues it would be seamless, however, CarMax missed major issues on their pre-inspection. Short story, two days after purchase my wife noticed issues, had it inspected by Toyota, ~$13,500 worth of work including transmission and front shocks. Was so obvious there was no way a mechanic actually inspected the vehicle. We needed a vehicle quickly, now all of our money will be tied up a month and a half, days of calling and not getting called back, they wouldn't allow Toyota to do the work, etc. Ended up being more akin to working with a cable company when there was issues. No compensation to date. Requested, doubt we will get any. More

My Carmax experience was extremely straightforward and consumer friendly. At no point in the buying process did I feel that my representative was being pushy nor did they give signs of being desperate for consumer friendly. I think getting a car with closer to 80,000-120,000 miles on it gives you the best deals at Carmax, assuming you are buying a reliable car that will last many, many more miles. More

The price was good but we had several issues. We only received one key to the car and had to purchase another one although they said they would reimburse us.
