We were very happy with our customer service sales associate, Yyet (sp?). She stepped in to assist us when no one else seemed to see us waiting to buy a car. Since we had already set up our own fina associate, Yyet (sp?). She stepped in to assist us when no one else seemed to see us waiting to buy a car. Since we had already set up our own financing and initial transfer fee, she was able to get us through the process quickly. We test drove the car and while it was in final preparation she helped us in completing the paperwork. She didn’t give us a hard-sell for any additional extended warranties. We REALLY appreciated her respect for our time. More
Overall I had a very positive buying experience at Carmax but with a few hiccups. The day after I received my appraisal I found a car I wanted to buy on their website which was one state over. I paid the but with a few hiccups. The day after I received my appraisal I found a car I wanted to buy on their website which was one state over. I paid the nominal transfer fee assuming it would arrive well within the 7 day appraisal window. However it took 10 days so they had to re-appraise my car (was told this was just a formality) and it came back $3k lower! I was told not to worry, they would straighten it out the next day which they did but it meant I had to come back. Nathan the sales rep was great. The transaction took longer than expected but some of that was out of their control, and I got a fair rate thru Carmax Finance. Some advice- get the Maxcare extended warranty. I didn’t get it right away but I spoke with someone at another warranty company who said Carmax charges more for their cars because some of that warranty money is built into the sales price so the Maxcare is sold at a lower price. So I went back and purchased it within the 10 day window. More
