Giv My fiance and I were looking at a 2016 Hyundai Elentra GT that was had lemon on the carfax. we were aware of this and still wanted to purchase it. Given the low milage and good condition of the vehicle, we were willing to pay more than what we know it should have went for at auction. This wasn't the issue. The bigger issue came in to speak with Rod, the finance manager. Since I have spotty credit, he said he'd have some work to do with his banks. No problem we thought. However we spoke on the phone first the next day (We live over an hour away, so I wanted to get information over the phone about the financing). First, he quotes a ridiculous 16%, then says that I have to get GAP insurance to get it down to 9%. In his words this had to happen so he could "Make it make sense to the bank". I have to ask him several times over (he outright refused to tell me over the phone) about the interest on the loan and which bank it was from. He became rude and pushy at this point after I asked for information. This threw red flags about the integrity of this deal. "Make it make sense to the bank" created the impression that he was working the bank with potentially vague or falsified information to qualify me for whatever loan he was working. The lack of transparency and implied dishonesty was very off-putting and led to my ultimate denial of the deal because he was pushy and not wiling to provide information that I should have been provided since you were selling a $15k deal. Also calculating the math behind the loan with interest rate provided by Rod, there was a $60 discrepency in the monthly payment provided by him and the calculations of the loan with the interest rate provided. He would not explain to me where the extra money on the monthly fee was coming from. He claimed the only extra was the gap insurance, which I know from other dealers is not an additional $60 a month under any circumstances. His dishonesty and unwillingness to communicate details with me is what led to my dismissal of the deal we were previously set on accepting. That same day I went to a Hyundai dealership, bought a used Elentra GT with more (the full feature package, the best available from Hyundai) features, for $1000 less than what I was going to buy a lemon (this is branded on the title, making if very difficult to insure) and with a significantly lower interest rate without forcing me to take gap or any other added cost. They answered all of my questions about the car and financing honestly without hesitation or push back. I also receieved a certified pre-owned with a far better warranty AND extended service contract than what your people were offering me. I also spoke with Sonny regarding the cost of the vehicle, because I have access to the same automotive auction information that wholesalers and dealers do. The car in question should have been sold for $8-9000 since it was a lemon. If he paid more for a lemon car then he paid far too much for it. He suggested he paid a lot more for it. He was either lying to me or he made a poor decision on the price for the purchase at auction. The short version of this is: I would have purchased the car from you with less features and higher price if your people would have just been honest and up front with me. They were not, and that cost you a $15000 sale and I will not recommend anybody purchase from this organization. More
