I purchased a used vehicle from Clay Cooley Hyundai of Dallas on July 19, 2025, after being prequalified through Capital One Auto Navigator. The dealership was listed as a participating partner, but once Dallas on July 19, 2025, after being prequalified through Capital One Auto Navigator. The dealership was listed as a participating partner, but once I arrived, they falsely told me they were not, which was untrue and set the tone for what became a deceptive experience. I went in for vehicles under $22,000 that were advertised online, but was told they were “sold.” I later confirmed at least one was still on the lot. I was then pressured toward a new 2025 model I clearly said no to — and the dealership still ran an unauthorized credit inquiry on my mother for that vehicle, even though she was in Iowa and never contacted. (Bait & Switch, Non-Transparency of Financing) Their “voucher” and “credit-forgiveness” programs were also misleading. I was told by text that my husband and I would qualify for zero down and credit forgiveness as long as we made $1,800/month. We met that requirement, yet they demanded $5k first, then $2,500 down. To make matters worse, they said I’d be added as a co-borrower and could refinance in my name after a few payments. The final contract was instead written solely in my mother’s name, without her knowledge or consent, when applying online with the intent to be a co-signer only. My first payment was also due 30 days later, not the 90 days promised. It’s now been almost four months, and I still don’t have my registration or tags. The only solution offered was to “return the car for a refund of the down payment,” ignoring the deception that led to the sale in the first place. This dealership engaged in misleading advertising, unauthorized credit activity, and false financing claims. Consumers deserve transparency and honesty — not unconscionable conduct and deceptive pressure. 60-Day Notice to Claim Under Texas DTPA was sent and received by the business. The only response was what was mentioned above. More
