Thank you for the response. To clarify, this wasn’t about how I felt — it was about being told I needed to submit a credit application before I could be given an out-the-door price. This was a process issue, not an emotional one. I wasn’t asking for financing, approval, or payment scenarios — just the price of the vehicle. I was also asked to provide my driver’s license before pricing was disclosed, which further reinforced that basic numbers were being treated as gated information. Several other Toyota dealerships were able to provide OTD pricing without pulling credit reports or collecting personal identification, which makes this feel less like an industry standard and more like a carefully chosen approach to transparency. When basic pricing requires credit inquiries and ID collection, it naturally raises questions about what’s being avoided rather than disclosed. A simple number upfront would have avoided the situation entirely.
