"I traded for a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum from..."

- Nebraska guy

I traded for a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum from this dealership. I spoke to their Salesperson Gregg Ray over the phone for the "deal" that we made. The Highlander has a $750 rebate that comes from the Toyota Corp. after purchase of said vehicle. I own a Driving School and my company instructs roughly 900 students each year. When I instruct the classes, I always inform the students to be careful when purchasing and always do your research. With that said, I explicitly stated to the salesperson what I was willing to give "x" amount of cash difference for the trade allowance on my Rav4. I also made it clear that I would be the one receiving the $750 rebate from Toyota after purchase. Gregg agreed and I drove over 2 hours to the dealership. All went well until I went to sign the paper work. I learned at that time, the dealership wrote into the contract that they would be keeping the rebate. I then spoke to Rick Alexander which I believe is the general manager, and I had Gregg enter into this conversation as well. I had Gregg repeat what I said via the phone conversation the other day and Gregg stated that I said that I would be getting the rebate. Rick then interjected that I was basically receiving the rebate "built in" to the negotiated price. This IMO, was a total misrepresentation of what was promised. I did state to the Finance & Insurance Manager (John Crayne) that I was going to post a Review. John said that their lawyers would be looking into possible defamation of this review. I told John that I would write that into the review as well. Nothing like good ole' intimidation to try as a scare tactic to not write a poor review. I will never go back to this dealership again. I will also be adding how this transaction worked into my coursework within my Driving School for years to come.

"If They Won't Take Trade-In's They Don't Deserve My Business"

- sambethune

Wanted to trade my 2004 Toyota Prius for a used 2007 Toyota Camry because I wanted a bigger car. I drove the Camry and liked it; then I was told that the management does not allow trade-ins on cars priced under $5,000 (which this particular Camry was due to high mileage). Obviously the dealer can set whatever policies they want but this strikes me as really dumb and it means they're not really interested in doing business with me. Many families like mine have both a new car and an old car and based on this dealer's policies when I am ready to trade our new car for another new car I will not be looking to do it with this dealer. I should also mention that the salesperson told me "at least we have a basis of contact and I will keep checking with you to see if you sold your Prius and want to buy the Camry outright. It's been two weeks and I haven't heard from him. I guess I was right and my business didn't really matter much to them.

"Failure to diagnose oil leak after I told them I had one...."

- DorisBurb

Failure to diagnose oil leak after I told them I had one. Said there was no leak. Oil continues leaking. I checked it myself. Found the oil leak. Got a second opinion. Was told it was an "obvious leak," just like I had said there was an oil leak. Went back to Toyota and had to "tell them where it was located." Wanted to work a deal with me for 1/2 of what the other shop told me. Then told me they couldn't fix it that day because they had to order parts and wouldn't make an appointment for me right then and there. Made sure I brought all my receipts with me and showed them my cardboard that was full of oil that I was catching underneath my imaginary oil leak! Said he would call me later "that day" to schedule an appointment. That was TWO days ago!!!! Couldn't repair it that day -- but lo and behold there were no cars in the body shop. A little strange to say the least. I am more than ripped, irate, ticked and pissed off about the whole situation and the way I've been treated. The manager totally blew me off because he's who I requested I speak to when I drove my butt over there, which is 50 miles there and 50 miles back, just to "confirm" what the other body shop told me and what I had originally told them. Did I mention that I'm a female and I've been totally been ripped off? If I don't hear a response back from some "qualified, concerned, honest and respectable person," someone else is going to hear about it higher up the chain!!! I've never been so mistreated by a car repair shop ever!
