I took the car in for an oil change, was encouraged to replace plugs that were due to be replaced soon so I approved. When I drove the car home it had a hesitation when shifting gears at highway speeds that did not exist prior to the service visit. Took the car back in and was told replacing engine mounts (no, didn't sound right to me either but they are the "experts") would solve the problem at a cost of $3K. The problem still existed after engine mount replacement so I took the car back in and after the dealership put 50 miles on the car to test a shift issue, or joyride as there would be no reason to put 50 miles on a car they could have tested in a couple miles, they told me I needed a transmission valve body at a cost of about $3,800. I asked if they would cover the labor due to the mis diagnosis of replacing the engine mounts but they refused to cover for their previous mistake because I approved the engine mount replacement. And the best part is, that may not fix the issue so I would be about $8,100 into a spark plug change with possibly more to come. If it is the transmission, that is $10K but you can't get them because the UAW is trying to negotiate outrageous salaries and work weeks which will only exacerbate the cost and supply issues. So I might be about $18K (or more, maybe it is the engine, or the gas pedal, or the intake, or the wiring - they have no idea) in repairs for a car that is worth $15K. I will give an independent shop the $$. I was planning to buy a CT5 V to replace my CTS vSport that I have loved over the 9 years I owned it so far but I don't want to go through this again. Genesis, you have an ex GM loyal buyer (I have owned 5 GM vehicles, would have been 6 if they didn't pad the cost of the Yukon Denali during the previous part shortages which sent me to get a lower cost much better looking and handling Range Rover) headed your way. Oh, almost forgot about the loaner. I was given an old ATS as a loaner. As I was driving from the dealership to my office, a low tire pressure light came on for the right rear tire which was 1 psi low. I was going to add air but noticed over the 2-3 days I had the car, it did not change so I had no concerns with it and did not add air. When I returned the car, they told me there was a nail in the tire sidewall and I need to pay them $395 for a new tire. For reference, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on my vSport aren't that expensive. I stated it was low when I left but they said I should have called and told them the pressure was 1 psi low. I looked for the "nail" because I really don't trust anything they say at this point and they finally showed me a small piece of metal in the tire, not the sidewall. The one glimmer of customer satisfaction throughout this ordeal was the General Manager intervened and said the car needed all new tires and he would cover them. More
