I found the Jeep with all the specs I wanted online at Pilson. I called the dealership to say I wanted it, and they pre-approved me for a loan. I nailed down the purchase price & the interest rate on the Pilson. I called the dealership to say I wanted it, and they pre-approved me for a loan. I nailed down the purchase price & the interest rate on the loan I would get through them over the phone. It was all set. They marked the Jeep sold to wait for me to arrive. I live four hours away so I drove down with my husband to finalize the sale. When we went to sign the sale/loan papers they said, "Oops, we made a mistake and your interest rate will be almost a full point more". I have a friend that works in finance at a car dealership. He told me this is a trick finance uses to make extra money on sales. I guarantee if this would have been a truck my husband was buying- we would have walked out. My husband wanted me to walk. Since this was the vehicle I wanted & needed for my business. Plus we were so far away, and we both have busy jobs.... we paid it. They were betting on us doing that knowing all of this.
