I brought my Equinox in on April 11 2023 to replace the Blend door actuator that controls the a/c heat control knob. I told everyone that I had a/c and heat, just needed the actuator replaced. My mechani Blend door actuator that controls the a/c heat control knob. I told everyone that I had a/c and heat, just needed the actuator replaced. My mechanic had already fixed a problem with no heat by doing a heater core replacement on March 15 2023. It worked as intended until April 10 2023, when the Blend door actuator went out. He said he could replace the actuator but it would have to be recalibrate by the GM dealer. I decided to have Dave White replace the actuator and calibration. BIG MISTAKE!!! The mechanic at Dave White called me and asked for more info on the problem. I explained that all it needed was a replacement of the actuator. He said he couldn't take my word and had to put the Equinox on the computer. They called later that day and said it wasn't the actuator but but a corroded battery terminal that caused the calibration to fail. He cleaned up the terminals and recalibrated. I was charged $348.11. On picking up the car, the blower put out cold air. They took it back and recalibrated again. The next morning the control knob didn't work again. Then on April 17 they said the problem was an expansion valve leak. I was charged $158.36. The next morning blower not being controlled by the actuator again. They then said they would replace the Blend door actuator on April 27 2023. Guess what it worked!!! I was charged for the parts only $84.05. I asked Nick Buck, the service agent, what the labor would have cost. He said around $175. The total to replace the actuator should have been around $259. I paid a total of $591.52 for your service.
