I was not planning on trading, until I received a call from an associate. She told me of the promotion they would be running in the next couple days. I told her I wasn't in the market for a new truck, but would entertain the idea. I was greater outside with a friendly smile and handshake. The salesman then sat my wife and I down and asked what I was looking for. My request was not in stock, but would I look at this deal? He had an upgrade, for about the same price. I looked at the truck and instantly wanted it. The rest of the buying process was easy and painless. So, although I wasn't planning to trade, I did and I thank the entire staff at Deerey Brothers for being so nice and helpful. I look forward to continuing business with this company. More

Musings of an Adventurer Dear reader, I am a man of simple taste and easy personal relationships. If there is one thing that sets me apart from most folks, it's the strong emotional bond I form with my vehicles. Just a few days ago, I had to say goodbye to my beloved Sierra, "Party Truck". She was a 2004 and had just reached the 300,000 mile mark. Of course you can't get to that mark without a transmission rebuild here or a swapped transfer case there, but we're not here to talk about maintenance practices or even broach the subject of brand loyalty. She was outfitted for camping and tailgating, and boy did we do a lot of that. I've been coast to coast, border to border, and all the way across Canada with her. She shared all my adventures, and it was a tough decision to let her go. Making that decision of course gets us to the heart of this long winded review - the new truck purchase. I scoured Craigslist, eBay, and made many phone calls to high volume dealers in the regional area. Hours of research, reading reviews, and high stress phone calls with high pressure internet salesmen turned into days of dread. Was I going about this the right way? This truly had to be the best way to find the best deal. But oh, could I really find the next vehicle that I could bond with going this route? I was frustrated and a bit depressed. So after a couple cups of morning coffee and some time pondering on the porch in the morning sunlight, I decided to head over to Deery of Ames and test drive some more trucks. Again, this review isn't to show my side of any debate about brands, or the hows and whys of how I came to that decision, it is a review and a reflection on the experience. As I pulled up and parked, I steeled myself, walked up, and was met at the door by Dylan Criswell. He's young and relatively new to the game, but he is absolutely a composed, genuine, and knowledgeable young man. It turned out to be an unexpectedly pleasant day. He took the time to pull out every vehicle I wanted to test and stayed genuinely kind and understanding the entire day. At the end of it all, I can be absolutely confident that I now have the truck that I can share the next era of adventuring with. And if Dylan is even 80% indicative of the true nature of the Deery of Ames family, I am confident we will both be taken care of over the years. I can even overlook the odd fact that he passed over the Italian beauty of a Ducati for a Suzuki and is one of those weird Iowan P*ttsb*rgh Steelers fans. But seriously, and in closing - to Dylan and the rest of the folks at Deery of Ames, thank you. Go Browns. More
