2021 Ford Expedition Max VIN 1FMJK1KT2MEA25420 On Sun, 6/4/23, we arrived for a 3:00 appt with DT, who had sent us a video of himself to let us "know who we'd be working with". DT immediately passed us of 6/4/23, we arrived for a 3:00 appt with DT, who had sent us a video of himself to let us "know who we'd be working with". DT immediately passed us off to a "product specialist", A.M. We later asked if A.M. was our car salesperson, which she confirmed. After driving the vehicle and asking myriad questions, we sat down to discuss the purchase. The initial offer by Dimmitt included a $1750 reconditioning fee and a $1199 processing and doc fee. We objected to both and were told by A.M. and her higher up, D.H., that the p&d fee was "legally required" by the State of Florida and the dealership had to pay it to the State. When we requested a copy of the law and stated we knew that wasn't true, D.H. explained that, actually, Dimmitt's business model was to charge everyone the same fee in order to avoid class action lawsuits. He admitted that they can charge whatever they want and are not required to pay it to the State. When we asked for the dealer's invoice, D.H. stated he had never shown anyone a dealer invoice and implied the vehicle was a trade in and they were selling same for a loss, along with irrelevant stories from past sales. They would not give us a believable response when asked why the vehicle had been on the lot 68 days. In fact, their reasons contradicted other statements they made. Later, A.M. told us it was purchased by Dimmitt at auction. When I was shown computer printout of the work that was done by Dimmitt for the reconditioning fee, I noticed that significant repairs had been done, including replacing the underbody shields and repairing rear panels. I kept a copy of the “reconditioning report”. The Autocheck report they showed us indicated the vehicle had no reported accidents. They assured us it had not been in an accident. They asked us to make a counter-offer, which we did for $3,678 less than their listing price. We were told by a sales manager, B.C., we could pay their listing price which would not be lowered by more than $500, plus the optional and overinflated fees, or leave. We left. When I got home, I pulled the CarFax report, which shows the vehicle was in a rear end collision with damage on 4/8/21. Two hours after closing, Dimmitt sent us a text informing us that the vehicle had been sold. So, if true, someone unknowingly purchased a 2021 Ford Expedition Max with approximately 38,000 miles that has been in an accident with damage. The CarFax report I obtained reflected some of the reconditioning work by Dimmitt, but did not include the replaced underbody shields and repaired rear panels. It is my understanding that Carfax reports shows repairs as reported by the repair person/company, which in this case was Dimmitt. I uploaded and saved the listing from Dimmitt's website and Dimmitt's Autocheck report onto the internet archive for future use. Good thing, because today the listing and AutoCheck report have been removed from Dimmitt's website. On Yelp, I included photos of the Dimmitt Autocheck report, Dimmitt's printout of repairs they made to the vehicle, and my CarFax report showing the accident/damage and the reconditioning as reported by Dimmitt. I hope the new owner sees this. If needed, we will testify to the above. I hope it’s not for an injury or fatality that could have been avoided had Dimmitt been honest. I believe Dimmitt knew the vehicle was in an accident when they purchased it at auction; hence, the significant repairs done to the vehicle by Dimmitt before listing it for sale. More
