Needed a repair done on my f-150, we are from out of state, and needed to get back on the road asap. I went in for an oil change for my 2021 Ford Ranger with 12k miles. They recommended an alignment with my old change. I opted for the service. When the service writer got my paperwork back from the technician, he told me that they got my alignment back within spec with caster and SAI, but didn’t provide a copy to show me the work. I asked for a copy and the measurements were basically the same from entering the dealership, with right front caster .2 out of spec on print out. Then the excuses came, saying the print didn’t show the initial measurements. I asked if they could pull the initial measurements so I can see them and the service writer tried. He walked back inside and went into his boss’ office then came back to me. He told me that the technician didn’t have to do much to my alignment and wouldn’t charge me. Confused, as I have done alignments on multiple different makes and models before using a hunter alignment product, questioned the measurements of caster being in the red, not to mention that it was the same as when it went on the alignment machine. They assured me that my alignment was fine and not to get concerned with the measurements. They then withheld the charge for the said alignment. Bottom line, if I didn’t want to see proof of a 140 dollar service for alignment, I would have been charged for no work actually being completed. Stay smart out there and ask for all documentation on work you are paying for! More
