Excellent experience with Umansky Subaru.. Our family has purchased six vehicles from this dealership with excellent results. Michael Barbour was our original point of contact, we so enjoy working with him. purchased six vehicles from this dealership with excellent results. The service department performed the necessary maintenance in the length of time they told me at the start. Everything was done with courtesy and no problems. I appreciate the multipoint inspection. The outdoor protocols were good when taking the vehicle in. appreciate the multipoint inspection. The outdoor protocols were good when taking the vehicle in. More
If it wasn't for a recall, I wouldn't use them again. Two Subarus: 1) I went in with a P0420 OBD code. That's the one for a catalytic converter efficiency issue. I told them it was the cataly again. Two Subarus: 1) I went in with a P0420 OBD code. That's the one for a catalytic converter efficiency issue. I told them it was the catalytic converter. I was told, no that code is always thrown because you need to have the section of the exhaust between the engine and the cat replaced. So, $2500 later, the car... still throws the catalytic code. So they haven't fixed the problem at all... and their response was to tell me a catalytic converter to fix the code will cost an additional $2300-2400. F that, I'll take it to Meineke or some other local shop. 2) Second Subaru was going in for a recall. Umansky asked if they could do the safety inspection, I agreed. When I went to pick up the car, they told me they'd have to fail the car unless I changed a bulb. OK, Virginia won't let shops make a profit on the safety inspection, so there's always a "burned out bulb we had to replace" that runs $12-20. They took it a step further, I could 1) have them remove the bulbs so that the sockets were empty and that would let them pass the safety inspection, or 2) I could have them change all the various burned bulbs (apparently there was more than just the one "usual"), but that either way I'd have to pay them for the hour or more of labor. I gave them option 3) Fail it. I went to WalMart, bought a bulb, replaced it and had it re-inspected (it passed) the next day near my home for a fraction of the cost the bulb(s) plus hourly rate would cost me at Umansky. They even returned the car without a courtesy cleaning. At this point, I don't trust them to sit the right way on a toilet seat. Two occasions, two strikes, they're out. More
I've been very pleased with the dealership through the five years I've owned a Subaru. In particular, Darcey Serio has been helpful.
