AS THEY SAY THERE ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO EVERY STORY…. THE HEADLIGHT REFERRED TO AS “SMASHED” IS ACTUALLY SCRAPPED, SOMETHING NOT READILY NOTICED WHEN CASUALLY WALKING BY THE VEHICLE, IT HAS THE APPEARANCE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN A BEETLE OR LOCUST HITS A HOOD OR HEADLIGHT. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, IT TOOK A LOT OF FORCE TO CAUSE THIS SCRAP, LIKE SOMETHING THAT WOULD OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE BEING DRIVEN LET’S SAY, BETWEEN CALIFORNIA AND MICHIGAN. WE WANT TO BELIEVE THIS CUSTOMER DIDN’T NOTICE OR SEE IT BEFORE BRINGING THE VEHICLE IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, SOMETHING THAT TOOK LESS THAN AN HOUR TO COMPLETE BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS WASHED AND PARKED NEAR THE FRONT OF OUR BUILDING WAITING TO BE RETURNED. WE CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND THAT ACCIDENTS HAPPEN, WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS FOR BEING FORTHRIGHT WHEN SOMETHING UNFORTUNATE DOES HAPPEN FROM OUR REPAIR ACTIVITIES. ADDITIONALLY, IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT WE DID OFFER TO ORDER THE PART AND ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR EXPENSE BY PROVIDING A DISCOUNT SHOWING EMPATHY FOR THE SITUATION, BUT AFTER READING THEIR POSTING, IT WAS MORE THAN WE SHOULD HAVE OFFERED….

Gee, I wish I could post a picture of what you are calling a "scratch". The plastic is partially smashed in and broken. Im guessing whoever responded from the dealership has never driven a car long distance; yes, bugs do accumulate on the front of your car, but there are no beetles large enough to smash your headlight. Also, I have a picture of a family member standing next to the car taken the day before Fox Toyota damaged it, where you can clearly see that there is no damage to the light. Finally, I found it hilarious that the dealership had someone inspect the damage with a magnifying glass and assert that since there was dirt in the crack (at a microscopic level) therefore the damage was caused while we were driving. I've talked to many people on the area about this incident and almost all have responded that the Fox family of dealerships are crooks. Wish I had known before I went, thanks for damaging my car, lying about it, and then trying to make a buck on the repair. The response to my review sums up Fox Toyota's attitude toward customer service.

OK, I am going to try to be as "above the fray" as I can possibly be with this situation. Unlike the customer, we actually did some due diligence in reference to their complaint. The last thing we want a customer to think is that we damaged their vehicle and didn’t take responsibility for it. Out of curiosity, we Google searched this customer’s VIN, since they had just purchased the car we figured we might find the original listing pictures from the dealer in California. Bingo! Pictures were there and so was the headlight damage this customer is so upset about. They bought the car with the damage! It’s clear as day...then we invited them in and asked them to review what we had found. The customer response..."we are too busy." I guess that kind of sums things up. Unlike these customers who just automatically jump to the conclusion that our dealership "is full of crooks," I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they didn't realize they had this damage and weren’t just trying to get us to pick up a new headlamp for them by throwing accusations around. For what it’s worth, the fact that we have been serving this area successfully for almost 50 years should speak for itself as it relates to the bogus charge of our dealerships being crooks. Plus, I think our online reputation probably is a pretty good indicator as well. I would ask that the Chopps, either remove their unwarranted reviews, issue an apology for jumping to conclusions, or make the time to review the photos we have found that clearly show the pre-existing damage to their car.
