Its all about customer service. After stepping inside the front door I was met by Charles Kelley who came clear across the room to greet me and shake my hand. The whole time we talked and he showed different cars to me, he acted more like I was his father and he was very respectful and helpful. I came back three different days, we looked at cars on different lots, and he started many cars for me to test drive and listen to. Some days were very warm and Mr. Kelly never seemed impatient with me. He ran everywhere he went. My daughter loves the car and we will be back for another soon, ( I have three daughters). I felt absolutely no pressure, and instead I was made to feel at ease at every step of the buying experience. The post-sales experience has been amazing. The dealership has proactively contacted me to ensure that I am satisfied with the car and the experience. This is my third Honda, and I intend to drive Hondas from here on out. Total disaster Picked up a used Toyota Rav4 last week. Dealership side of the house was great. Very accommodating and fair. No issues with Frank, Chris or Richard. After barely riding 15 Miles in the Rav, battery light illuminates and I turn around to return to service department of dealership to have this fixed before delivering it to our daughter in Columbia. Randy greets me and has a tech quickly assess the battery. It's low. An hour later (after he tells me it's not covered in the extra warranty I just purchased in spite of the contract to buy said car being 24 hrs old) he claims to have replaced the battery and off I go....again 10 Miles into journey the light comes on again. Again I go back. He decides a "master mechanic" will drive it because they can't get it to come on in the shop. He never did or the light would have come on. I have now cancelled the delivery in Cola and am forced to pay for another day of rental car for daughter. After 4 hrs. Randy tells me they just can't find anything so I can take it and drive it and just note it when I take it in for servicing at the Toyota dealership service dept. in Charleston. My daughter has driven all the way up to Greenville now and I hesitantly hand her the keys. Within 12 Miles the lights come on and she videos it for proof. Fast forward 2.5 hours later, the car seizes up, sterling locks and all lights come on, engine quits, she is broken down on the side of I -26 in the dark. I am frantic. Tow ensues to Charleston Toyota dealership and the next day it is determined by the Totota service tech the battery has NOT been changed and the Alternator is bad as well as the struts! Not to mention I was sold a warranty that is not applicable to my car based on its # of Miles....I am disgusted beyond words with the disservice I received at Breakaway Hondas service department and Randy and his "master mechanic".... There is not 500 point inspection people, look closely and demand quality service, not lies. The dealership side of the house made it right, refunded the difference of a new warranty and repaid us for the battery and deductible. They can never repay the lack of trust I have in their service department, BUYER BEWARE More

I will post pictures with links and the story of how Breakaway deals with me. Argh........... Purchase was not the enjoyable experience I was hoping for. Went into the dealership on Dec 24, made an $8,000 cash deal on a 2003 BMW 325i with 79,360 miles and took possession on the 26th - at this time Randall told me they had an issue with the car and had it towed in. My wife took the car to her work 3 days, on the 3rd day the car would not start similar to what Randall had shared but only after the purchase. We had put about 30 miles on the car in total. I called for help, Randall passed me to Mr. Lane as I felt the dealership had not been forthright in full disclosure during the deal. Mr. Lane advised that since the car was running when I drove it off the lot I should call someone else and he would fax me a copy of the documentation accordingly. I was trapped into making a deal to try to mitigate damages so I made a deal on a 2012 Honda Accord using the disabled BMW as trade-in. I bought the additional service warranty so I could have it serviced at another Honda dealership. More
Our experience with Breakaway Honda was outstanding! Breakaway Honda was recommended by my dad. He had purchased 3 vans from Breakaway and has been happy with their service. We already owned a 2001 Honda and were considering a new model. We originally went to look at a used Toyota Camry and I sent an email to inquire about the car that was on their website. I received a reply back from David Dobson and the next morning we went to look at the car. When we arrived, we found out the car was sold the night before. As we were not settled on a Toyota, David started looking for Accords that fit our budget. He did not pressure us or try to talk us into something that we did not want. He was very professional and helpful and helped us find a car that was exactly what we were looking for. I will definitely go back to Breakaway Honda and recommend them to my friends. We are enjoying our new used car very much and are very pleased. Also Chris Hagelios was helpful with the financing part. As I have a business degree, Chris explained the finance process and the vehicle warranty better than I've ever heard it presented before. He was very helpful, patient and did not rush us. Avoid this dealership:This is the absolute worst experience. I inquired about a Buick Skylark that this dealer had advertised online on Autotrader. I noticed that the tires were dry rotted in the photos provided and asked if it went through an inspection, in addition to does everything work on the car as it should. I get the following 2 emails back to back for Dana Conner: "I appreciate your interest in the pre-auction vehicles here at Breakaway Honda. These are vehicles that we would normally send to the auction because they do not meet our requirements to retail them; including but not limited to year, miles, general condition, etc. You need to come see and drive them to determine the condition for your purposes and feel free to take it to your mechanic. Please call me at 864-420-4862 if you'd like to come and check one out. By the way, at these prices they are going very fast!" and "I know that you have inquired about the pre-auction cars here at Breakaway and maybe my first reply scared you off. You shouldn't be afraid to come look at and drive these cars just because they haven't been in the service department. Believe me, there have been some real "jewels" purchased out of this category. Each one is unique and there have been some excellent buys over the past few months. My direct number is 864.420.4862 if you have any questions." I also received to phone calls and no voicemail twice during the day. You would think he would have had the courtesy to leave a voicemail, but after dealing with him I can understand the less talking he did the better off her was. I just got off the phone with Dana Conner. I was told it is a "pre-auction" car and it hasn't passed an inspection. I mentioned to him that I am from Illinois and he is in South Carolina. He reiterated that I can have my mechanic look at it. Then Dana asked me if I was a dealer. I said no, but a friend of mine is if that helps me in some way. He belched back no and he "ain't'" wholesaling it . Stating that its asking price plus sales tax , etc. Once again I reiterated that I am from out of state. At that point I gave up and said he is seems to have no interest in selling me this car and he hung up on me before I could tell him that he was by far the worst and rudest salesman/saleswomen I have ever dealt with in my entire life. That is saying a lot since he is from South Carolina and I am from a suburb of Illinois. So much for alleged southern hospitality. So basically what I took away from Dana Conner is that even though the car is fully priced retail unit it has not passed any inspection, nor will it. Either buy it or quit bothering me. About 10 minutes after I got hung up by him I received a call from a quality assurance person from the dealer and told her what I typed above. I was transferred to a manager and retold what occurred to her. I was basically told he will be spoken to and that sometimes he comes off that way. The dealership is getting back to me on Monday. I stand by my 1 star review, until the outcome of the situation changes. More
