Seriously, their price was more than $1000 under the best offers I got anywhere in Woodbridge, Alexandria, Lorton, or Annandale. They told me exactly the condition of the car and encouraged me to have it inspected at another shop for confirmation. It was just as they said. I'm a used car buyer, and it's rare and a great pleasure to deal with a shop like Fred's that tells you the truth up front. A bonus is that Fred's team is well connected with maintenance and body shops in the area. When my wife's 2008 Hyundai Sonata needed work, I went to Fred's for a referral. They pointed me to both a maintenance shop and a body shop that have done great work for me at super cheap prices, just because I'm one of Fred's customers. I'm not much into big businesses. I like to support small businesses where they personally recognize you when you come in the door. That's how Fred's is. It's a family business led by a gentleman with a clear business vision. While doing the paperwork for my car, I had coffee with the owner, the head of the family, as well as his sons and nephews. The father shared with me his philosophy in the used car business. I can't remember everything he said, but I do remember him mentioning building a network of repeat customers and word of mouth business by always telling truth, never making empty promises, and providing exceptional customer service. I think that's what most used car purchasers are looking for. In a nutshell, I really recommend Fred's. Not only will you get the car you want at a great price, you'll be treated well. "Spent about four months researching cars before making a purchase. Drove the Hyundai Genesis Coupe... fun, but noisy on the highway and the engine RPMs hung at around 3000 doing 70 mph.... despite the claim of 30 mpg on the sticker, I highly doubted it. Drove a Volvo C30... liked it, but the styling just didn't do it for me. Drove a Civic SI and was thoroughly unimpressed. Was about to give up when I walked by a sleek looking black car at a used car lot. Asked the dealer what it was, as I'd never seen one before. He looked at the back and said "It's an Audi R8, and that's all I know." I was intrigued. Googled some quick stats and found that the car was right in my sweet spot. Spent the next hour at a FRED'S SELECT AUTO dealership test driving a 2012.... I didn't want to give it back! It was sporty, but not too sporty...more highway cruiser than racer. It was luxury car quiet, and the interior was head and shoulder above everything else I had driven. I bought one in Dec, 2012 and could not be happier with it. I've got about 34000 miles on it now, and during my mostly highway commute I average 35+ mpg...sometimes as high as 38.
