But I had the GLHC Dealership Coupon sent by USPS mail for 15 Percent Off brake parts as saved $124.94. Meanwhile, other Honda Dealerships and associated Honda Parts websites you can get 10 percent to 33 percent off those Honda Parts. Unfortunately, G.L. Honda City will not reduce the price of parts with a Service coupon. As of June 11, 2025, I had asked what the Labor per Hour Rate was at G.L. Honda City which is $180 per hour. I believe it was $150 last year in 2024 or 2023, I was also informed Labor costs are increasing in the area with its other Honda Dealership competitors as by this Fall season 2025 expect it to be $200 at G.L. Honda City. I hope you are asking around in your network of family/friends to find someplace else to go than the Stealer-ship Dealer. Most people do not make $30 per hour and we know most of the money does not go to the dealership employees. I know overhead and operational costs can not justify the Service Labor Costs. It is tough for most people to pay $100 per hour/labor. To have new Rotors and Pads (Brakes) front and rear done on 2022 Honda Civic Touring cost me $1,106.22 (Parts $566.22 & Labor $540) $540/$180 labor = 3 hours to do the Brake job or 45 minutes per wheel side which an established mechanic should be able to do in 30 minutes time. Therefore, I paid for an extra hour of Labor which was unnecessary as the G.L.H.C. Stealer-ship robbed me of $180 and not discounting the parts let say 10 Percent off the Honda Mfr. MSRP as another $56.62 I could have saved. No, I do not recommend Great Lakes Honda City for anything other than maybe buying a New Vehicle providing you can pay less than MSRP or Dealer Invoice Price. The lady at the Service Desk/Receptionist, Service Rep. and Cashier person were nice. Did not get to meet the Mech/Tech who performed the tasks, then the other staff just ignored me. Note: people in their vehicles are impatient and give you looks like you had done something wrong. Also, maneuvering your vehicle such as backing up to make room to turn around, they will just move closer to you so you are unable to back up as they get in your way instead of going around you. Finding a parking spot or leaving the small lot is tough because lack of space as it is congested. People are ignorant and rude when it comes to parking. More
They didn't listen and didn't care My only dealing since my purchase in 2009 was with the service department August 2015. My 2006 Honda Civic was leaking coolant and had a known tech bulletin out for the issue. I called the service department and was able to get an appointment very quickly. My car was looked at and it was deemed to need a new engine block per the Honda extended warranty for the tech bulletin. They were very communicative and had my car back to me in 2 days, and provided a free loaner car (which was a very nice Accord). We picked up the car just before closing on a Friday and noted that the A/C wasn't working. We had just paid $1200 to get it fixed a few months earlier, and because we were in a rush to get to my nephew's 7th birthday party, we figured we would handle it later. On our way there, the check engine light came on. I was on my way out of town, and the light was going on and off sporadically. My husband called and got an appointment for the next Monday. I took the car in and explained that the A/C wasn't working and asked if they would just check the work, since I just had it repaired. Again, no problem, got a loaner and was off to work. I receive a call about an hour later that they "forgot" to put tech notes on the paperwork that my A/C wasn't working when they did the engine test drive. I again, explained that it was working that morning and that we just recently had it repaired. I was told that there was nothing that they can do, but if I wanted to pay for service, they would take a look at it. I told them that I would be there in the hour to pick up my car. I took my car to my mechanic (Mike at Midas on South Bay Rd in Syracuse) and asked them if they could take a look and let me know what the issue was with the A/C. Chad called me later to let me know that the issue was, when they replaced the engine block, that instead of disconnecting the A/C hoses and vacuuming them out and then reconnecting after the service was completed, that 'sometimes' mechanics like the remove the hoses and 'let it ride'. All Chad did was reconnect my A/C hoses and recharge my A/C and I was right as rain. Had Honda City bothered to take a look at their own work, I would like to think that they would have seen this error in their workmanship. Instead, they decided to treat me as if I was someone trying to 'get over' on them. Thankfully my mechanic is honest and didn't charge my for Honda City's mistake (which I would have gladly billed to Honda City). This is one of the main reasons that I (and I am sure others) NEVER take their car to the dealer for service. They are in the business of selling cars and not maintaining cars. Unfortunately my buying experience in 2009 was great, but this entire episode has made me a NON Honda City buyer. More
As good as any and better than most these folks seem to do a good job. I have 2 complaints with their work and both are that the car was returned to me dirty. Oil spots left on tan leather seats on one v do a good job. I have 2 complaints with their work and both are that the car was returned to me dirty. Oil spots left on tan leather seats on one visit and black spots / marks on the seats on another visit. I am very skeptical with car dealers but I try to remember that they have to make money to stay in business --- I just EXPECT to be treated with curtesy and I EXPECT things to be done right the first time. I hold dealers to a higher standard than an independent mechanic. After 3 years of doing business with Honda City I remain very happy with their work. More
Generallly satisfied on service of my 2001 Civic, but there were one or two things added to periodic maintenance that were not discussed or listed ahead of time -- one being to lubricate the front disc b there were one or two things added to periodic maintenance that were not discussed or listed ahead of time -- one being to lubricate the front disc brake calipers. They claim this being done avoids replacement or rebuild of the calipers at much greater expense (maybe true: I have over 80M miles with original brakes). More
