Substantially more expensive than estimated I won't fault the repair job. I called in a panic, not knowing where else to go the day before Thanksgiving, and not only was the service department a I won't fault the repair job. I called in a panic, not knowing where else to go the day before Thanksgiving, and not only was the service department available, they figured out the problem quickly. I do want to commend them for their kindness and expertise. However, when the issue was explained to me, I was told the cost of the replacement part and labor, which was well within my budget.I understand it's an estimate, but I was told a very specific cost for the part, and I expected the cost of labor to probably go up a bit. Once it came in and was replaced, and it was not as though I could have it undone, the price of the part had greatly increased and my cost due immediately was nearly three times the estimate. I was fine with the cost of labor being more, but I was surprised that the cost of the part had increased so substantially, and without any discussion of the change. I felt like I had been told a lower estimate so I wouldn't take my car to a mechanic, and then once it was too late to go somewhere else, the price was tripled. If it had just been discussed with me prior to completing the work, so I could be an informed customer, this would be a much more positive review. I also fault myself for not knowing which questions to ask or getting anything in writing. I've bought my last two vehicles here, and I will probably buy the next one here, too. I think they have the best prices for vehicles within hundreds of miles (I had checked from Dallas to San Antonio and over to Houston), and they had the best prices and nice sales people. But I probably won't have my car serviced here unless I have no choice. More
