I have never financed a vehicle before and I do not have a good credit score, but was in need of a newer vehicle & wanted to re-build my credit. I went to Gurley Leep, and they pretty much pushed me in a 20 a good credit score, but was in need of a newer vehicle & wanted to re-build my credit. I went to Gurley Leep, and they pretty much pushed me in a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, which did seem decent. I feel like I was ripped off, and am very upset with this company. I had my van not even 24 hours and my ceiling by my dome light started leaking and soaked my floor. I called the next day and told Rich, who was the salesman, and he stated he would check into it and be in contact later that afternoon or by the next afternoon. Well I figured everything would be ok, considering they told me I had a 30 day/ 1,000 mile 100% parts and labor warranty, yeah I am starting to feel like a fool, because all I am getting is the run around, and Rich is trying to tell me that he thinks it is the wind shield leaking and that is not a covered part... Well I think it is b/s that I will only have the vehicle a week tomorrow and already feel they are ripping me off and will not even try to accomodate me and fix this problem. I also agree with some others who have complained about the inspection being a lie, because they said the suspenion was good and you can definitely tell I have a shock or spring problem that is going to need to be addressed, there is also pulsating in the brakes which I brought up and the finance manager Keith told me I have at least a year left on the brakes according to the inspection, some b/s too... I would advise anyone who does not want a headache and broke pocket to stay away from Gurley Leep... Wish I would have just tried around, if they helped me get into a piece of crap, I am sure another dealership at least would have treated me better this past week, instead of making me feel like I have made one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I went in trying to get a better vehicle that I would be able to afford and have a safer driving experience in for my three little ones, and now I just feel sick to my stomach everyday and do not even want to drive this vehicle. I'd like to start off by commenting that I rarely take the time to write online reviews. (In fact, this is the first car-related review I've ever written.) Our experience at Gurley Leep was so terribly the time to write online reviews. (In fact, this is the first car-related review I've ever written.) Our experience at Gurley Leep was so terribly awful, that I decided to take a few moments from my day off to write this negative (albeit very kind and forgiving) review. In short: My husband and I were on the market for a new car. We had taken the time to read several test-drive ratings, online articles, and purchasing guides, in order to decide (1) what car to buy and (2) what we were willing to (fairly) pay for that car. We are good simple people that stated our intentions and willingness to buy from the start, and drove a good distance to keep our scheduled appointment with the sales team. We experienced rude and condescending service, numerous bait-and-switch tactics, unfair and confusing pricing, sneaky add-on fees, and (unbelievably) aggressive mockery from Sales Manager Damon Donaldson. We took our business elsewhere, and happily purchased a 2012 Golf TDI from a very straightforward and honest (and completely different) dealership on Irving Park in Chicago instead. More
I bought a car from Gurly Leep almost 2 years ago, and was very unhappy with my customer service and decided I wouldn't go back. but recently I was wondering if possibly things have changed, I stopped in was very unhappy with my customer service and decided I wouldn't go back. but recently I was wondering if possibly things have changed, I stopped in to a sale going on to look and and need to express how wonderful I was treated the sales Rep was considerate of my needs and completely changed my mind about your company even though I'm not ready to purchase right now as long as he is working for the company I will go back, his name was Chris Rayl. Thank you! More
This is the worst customer service I have EVER seen! My daughter bought a used van with the understanding that along with the sale, a problem would be fixed. When we picked up the van, she was charged a daughter bought a used van with the understanding that along with the sale, a problem would be fixed. When we picked up the van, she was charged a $100 service fee. I said that the fee shouldn't apply since the fix was a condition of the sale! There were three smart aleck kids working there who just mouthed off and said THAT WILL BE ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS PLEASE. I'm sorry I didn't write down their names but I wish I had. I said they were the worst acting service department I had EVER seen and we paid the $100. I said I should write a letter to the paper about how terrible their service is at Gurley Leep. The kids just laughed hysterically. Then when we went out to the parking lot to get the van, the smart aleck girl actually GOT ON THE LOUD SPEAKER that goes into the parking lot and said, When you send that letter to the newspaper, make sure you spell our name right G-U-R-L-Y L-E-E-P!! Then when we got into the van it didn't START!! Anyone that buys a car here is crazy! I know two other people who have had similar experiences with the service department. I already told three people this story and they decided to go ELSEWHERE to buy a car and I will continue to tell this story as long as Gurly Leep is in business. More
Was lied to by Mr. Rhodes, was told I had to purchase a $2295.00 extended service contract in order to get a lower interest rate,he lied that was not the case at all, after a day or two we went back and sai $2295.00 extended service contract in order to get a lower interest rate,he lied that was not the case at all, after a day or two we went back and said we didn't want the servise contract and Mr Rhodes discountinued it and we kept the same interest rate. Also he said we had to pay $299.00 for window etching which I said at the time I didn't want,he said it was already on the car and we had to pay and if we didn't want to pay for the etching he would take price of the etching off and add $299.00 to the price of the car. After a couple of weeks with the warm weather we tryed the a/c and it blows hot air,so I called the general manager Jeff Lennex and told him the problem and he said they will not do anything cause we didn't by the extended warranty. I would think if you buy a car that the a/c should work or they should tell you that it don't.Have made several calls to Gurley Lepp and have been told that I must have misunderstood what they said and I have been hung up on by Mr.Lennex and he don't return calls ,I have to call him and he is a real good fast talker I think he likes to here himself cause he sure don't try to help.If this is the way Gurley Leep does business at all their dealerships I am suprised they have any customers at all.The biggest problem is there lack to step up and take care of a problem befor it gets out of control, and people start a law suit. I have purchased five vehicles from the Gurley Leep Automotive groups which were all used vehicles. In the past, my experience has been good, and okay when purchasing a vehicle. My review this time of Automotive groups which were all used vehicles. In the past, my experience has been good, and okay when purchasing a vehicle. My review this time of Gurley Leep has changed since inquiring about trading a vehicle. I attempted to trade in a 2009 Nissan Certified Murano that I had purchased from Gurley Leep last year. The Murano that I was trying to trade in was in good condition with brand new tires. The issue was that Gurley Leep was only giving me the market value of vehicle which was $17,000. I tried to reason with them in saying that they had the same vehicle on the lot, same trim and mileage for $22,000. I also showed them the NADA value for a used Murano which was showing $18,800 and Kelly Blue Book which was showing $19,100 for good condition trade in. Gurley Leep was unwilling to even to go an extra $1000 for a returning customer which the market was showing. I know that Gurley Leep has to make money and protect their investments however I think that was a little ridiculous on being that far away from two websites that consumers rely on. Gurley Leep has lost my business, because to them customer service does not come first no. The second complaint is that I first told Gurley Leep I was looking to trade in the vehicle. I told them I knew what the black book was showing, and they said just bring it and will see if we can get more money. Well I took the day of wasted time and what do you know their utilizing the black book. My Third complaint is that the sales man did not even return my phone call to see about my appraisal of my vehicle. Gurley Leep customer service and communication is not up standard and no wonder why their rating on this website is horrible. More

I bought a car from Gurley Leep Ford in South Bend. Within 30 miles of driving the car off the lot, the check engine light came on. Brought the vehicle back into the dealership and they charged me $90 Within 30 miles of driving the car off the lot, the check engine light came on. Brought the vehicle back into the dealership and they charged me $90 to have the light checked out and be told that it was covered. 30 miles later! I was also told that the keypad on the vehicle would be reset and when I went in I was told that I had to talk to my sales rep to have the keypad reset because it was no where in the service log they had. Sales rep tried to find the keypad code and even tried calling the previous owner as opposed to resetting the code altogether. After I got my vehicle out of the service dept, my sales rep was asking me about what they said about the vehicle. I was talking to him and turned around briefly to open my car door while still talking with him. When I turned back around no more than 2 seconds later, while still talking with sales rep, he was gone. Disappeared because he had already sold the car and no longer cares about the service that I receive. I will never go back to Gurley Leep and will do my best to dissuade anyone from ever buying a vehicle here. More
I've been bringing my VW to them for a few years and every visit they try to talk me into some needless expensive repair. Last time, they talked me into 4 new tires and every one of them failed. They re every visit they try to talk me into some needless expensive repair. Last time, they talked me into 4 new tires and every one of them failed. They replaced each one at no cost, but it took four return visits. Now a coil spring has failed and they suggested replacing the one that wasn't broken. When I asked why I would pay $420 to fix something that wasn't broken, they had no argument. Classic rip-off operation. Do not trust them. More
Awful service in the parts department. Waited for 10 min before the girl reading a book at the information desk finally called back to see where the parts guy was. When she hung up, she said "he's on the ph before the girl reading a book at the information desk finally called back to see where the parts guy was. When she hung up, she said "he's on the phone. He will be out when he is done." Waited another 10 min and then told her to call ANYONE now! She went back and looked for the parts guy after tearing her self away from her book. She came back out and said he would be out in a second. When Tim FINALLY came out 5 min later ( a total of 25 min wait), he scowled and me and said quietly "can I help you?" I said "Really? I have been standing her for 25 min" He says "I am really busy back there" I told him that I had an old Audi and was buying this part to replace it so I could buy a new Audi. I told him that now, I would not dream of buying a car here now. He said "Are you picking up?" I gave him my name, he gave me the part with out a word and walked away. I will never go back. More
