We had our 09 Camry Hybrid towed here with the VSC light on as well as ABS lights. The car was starting weird and basically had no brakes. Wasn't sure what it was so figured let's let the experts take care on as well as ABS lights. The car was starting weird and basically had no brakes. Wasn't sure what it was so figured let's let the experts take care of it. We were called later that day and told that we needed to replace the ABS module to the tune of $3,600. We decided against fixing it at the moment as that's a lot to spend on a car with 248k miles and is 14 years old. My wife stopped in to pay the $205 diagnostic fee and get it towed back to our house. The tow truck driver noted that the voltage on the 12v battery was dropping when he went to start the car. The 12v battery doesn't actually start the engine, however it runs the all of the electronics. While all this was happening a different service writer then the one who wrote us up was asking what we were going to do with it and saying he'll buy it right now as is. Just kept saying let me know. Ill pay cash and buy it as is. The tow truck driver mentioned that this all sounds like they're trying to scam us. Once home I'd purchased a better car scanner and scanned the active codes. All of them came up to being set when the voltage to the ABS module drops below 9v. So I bought a battery load tester and tested the battery. Low and behold voltage was dropping to 7v while trying to start the car. Replaced the battery cleared all the codes car is back to its old self. So I guess let that be a lesson to us to never visit them again as it appears they were trying to rip us off in more than one way. If they weren't they have awful techs that can't follow a diag tree. This is why people don't trust dealers. Out $205 for nothing from them. Will make sure I tell everyone I know never to come here. More
