We understand your concern over warranty products being encouraged. Please keep in mind that one of Off Lease Only’s goals is to provide every customer with peace of mind concerning the purchase of their vehicle. Most products being offered are basically insurance policies. There is no requirement to ensure against mechanical or electrical breakdowns that may occur with the vehicle, which can be cost-prohibitive depending on the make and model of the vehicle. These are products we offer that you are not required to purchase. Most of these ensure that there will be no major costs incurred from the ownership of the vehicle during the life of the loan. In our business, and especially with the volume we deal with, we see scenarios where a customer insists that they do not need GAP, only to have an accident and realize that the insurance company does not fully pay off their car loan when their car is totaled. We recently received a call from a customer who canceled his GAP insurance two weeks before he was in an accident. At this point, they are not a happy customer. We have also seen customers who, down the road, have an expensive repair, then decide they want to purchase an extended service contract. These things happen on a regular basis. Cars break down and accidents happen. Some of our Finance Managers might be a bit more passionate than others in encouraging their customers to protect their loans. Obviously, they are not always successful in convincing all buyers of this. Some customers’ budgets will allow for additional unexpected expenses, should they occur during the life of the loan. We apologize if the products were presented as anything other than a benefit to you. We value you as a customer and we appreciate your business.
