This is my experience with Joe Cotton Ford in attempting to lease a new F150 for my business. I always negotiate my deals via email before going to a dealer to save from wasting my time and theirs. Joe Cotton had a 2020 Ford F150, base model, quad cab 4x4, even crank windows! The truck was dirty, with a dead battery, clearly hasn't been touched in a while, and crank windows would not be a desirable model anyway, but I don't mind. I was looking for $2k down and around $340 per month on a 3 year lease. Via email they said there was a red carpet lease on that truck for $299/mo with $4500 down. With my $2k down, the payment would be $330 per month. That was close enough to my price (since I know tax and fees would put it at $350 or so), so I went to the dealer. After they used the jump box to start the truck, and I noticed the check engine light on this truck with 3 miles on it.... I say its good, lets do the deal. After an hour of "working" on my deal, the second guy comes over and says the best he can do is $584 per month on the lease..... His explanation is that the residual on a 2020 is low, so the lease payment is higher. Now, I understand how it all works, certainly enough to know that the residual on that 2020 sitting on the lot with crank windows isn't increasing while it ages..... I took my keys and left. Normally not agreeing on a price doesn't anger me - but this one was so insulting, so "slimy" I have felt the need to let people know. As a side note - Sunrise Chevrolet quoted me $349/mo on a 2021 Silverado custom, with a ton more features. I showed up at the dealer and in an hour, drove out with my new Silverado - and get this - for the price they quoted - no "Joe Cotton Bait and Switch". Luckily there are still dealers in the area not playing games. More
