I went to Hendricks Honda Bradenton 3 years ago to buy a Ridgeline truck. They did not have but one in inventory and it was already sold. I drove up to Lakeland where the Honda dealer was much more accommodating and purchase my new Ridgeline RLT in February 2020. Two days ago I returned to Hendricks Honda Bradenton on 8/22/23 to purchase a CRV Sport-L Hybrid. The sales associate was pleasant and showed us what they had in inventory. They had the Sport model on the lot but not the Sport-L Hybrid. We asked if they could check and see if they were expecting any new inventory of this model or if they could locate one in silver for us. The associate checked with his manager. The manager came out introduced himself and said he couldn't be sure when they would be getting new inventory on this model. That was it. He was short and did not make any effort or suggest that he could check with other dealerships and keep our business. I had made it clear to our sales associate that I was a cash buyer and I could be patient if they could locate and/or give me a time frame to when they would get new inventory. I even offered to put a cash deposit down if they could get the ball moving any faster. Again their ineptitude to find the car I came to them to purchase, was the same incompetence I experience 3 years prior. I left and did a search on the internet and found that Norm Reeves Honda Port Charlotte had inventory of this model on site. My wife and I drove there on 8/23/23 and we were made to feel that out business mattered! We then purchased our new CRV-L Sport Hybrid from Randy Berlanga. He immediately checked inventory from other dealerships and found us the car in the color of our request. They have truly earned our business and respect of how a dealership should operate. This visit was for a CRV alignment, Nick came to my rescue because all of the service writers we gone on the right side of the service bay. He had me all taken gare of in a matter of minutes. Today I came in to charge up the AC on my Honda Civic. AC was working properly it just wasn't as cold as it could be. I was told that they would evacuate the AC system, pull a vacuum and refill the refrig AC was working properly it just wasn't as cold as it could be. I was told that they would evacuate the AC system, pull a vacuum and refill the refrigerant to recommended level. When I came in I had thermometer in the vent which read 62 degrees after driving 20 mins to the service center. Tammy Hines recorded 57 degrees with her thermometer. Well after a couple hours I was then told the expansion valve needed to be replaced because the technician, Carlton said, "after some time the air was not blowing cold" Hmmm, that was never the issue with the car before. To make it worse I was then handed a quote by Ray Ramon of $1906.15 to replace the expansion valve (a part that costs $20 at AutoZone) I have never in my entire driving life been quoted such an exorbitant price for any repair!! I was told that labor was about $160 an hour and it would take up to 5 hours. Well 5 hours at $160 is $800, so I guess the $20 part at Autozone costs almost $1200 at Hendrick Honda. I have since found out how much I was gouged. The highest quote I got from other repair shops was $850 for replacing the expansion valve. Why was I being gouged so much here?!!!I drive a 12 year old car. Do you think I have the money to spend a third of what the car is worth to replace a $20 part! Beyond the obvious price gouging, there is what has become the obvious issue that this routine AC charge has damaged my entire car AC system. When the car was returned to me it was not "blowing cool and then warmer" as stated by tech. It was only blowing hot like I have the heater on. I had to pull over on my way home from service center because I was getting overheated and could not drive. It is unbelievable to me that you take a person's car which had an AC that was working properly just not ice cold and after charging him $240 to "charge up the AC" give him back a car which no longer works at all!! It should be illegal. It should have been made right on the spot! No ethics and no pride here! So folks be very wary of all these padded 5 star reviews on here. My health and livelihood are now affected by a routine procedure by "Genuine Honda Service Technicians" Seriously stay away! I will have to see what my rights are in this matter now. More
