I leased my first civic here and, 2-3 years later, bought my first civic here. That experience was quite positive. In the market again 11 years later, I returned. This was early in the process. I was in the my first civic here. That experience was quite positive. In the market again 11 years later, I returned. This was early in the process. I was in the market but in no rush. I was thinking about another civic or a civic hybrid. (I was also considering a mini or a prius but was motivated to buy a Honda hybrid for the tax rebate I would get for it.) I was clear with the salesman that I was just beginning to think about this, felt I had a lot of research to do, and wasn't planning on making any decisions for at least a month. He could tell me nothing of much use about either car. He, and his manager, who actually asked what they could do to make me commit that day, both spent all of their time badmouthing the hybrid. Literally all they could tell me was how I'd have to spend $4500 within 7 years to replace the battery. They did let me drive one fwd and back on the roof. I asked for some literature that described the new civics, the hybrid, some comparison, anything. I was surprised I had to ask; I was shocked when all I left with was one photocopied single-sided sheet of the prices of all of the different models. That was it. They knew I was going to mini, next door, immediately afterwards ... which led to the final moment of unprofessionalism. Could I come back after and tell them if I had eliminated the idea of buying a mini afterwards. I was really frustrated, disappointed, exasperated by the entire experience ... and am now the owner of a Prius. More
I'm not usually a person that reports when someone does a good job. Although I am DEFINITELY a person that speaks when something goes wrong. However, my experience at Herb Chambers in Boston has compelled good job. Although I am DEFINITELY a person that speaks when something goes wrong. However, my experience at Herb Chambers in Boston has compelled me to change my ways. I will admit Herb Chambers was NOT the first dealer I contacted but as soon as Jasmine answered the phone I knew there was something different. She was patient, courteous, and most of all informative. She invited me in to go over my options and promised a stress free environment. Even though I agreed to an appointment I was still weary about the way things would be when I got there. To my surprise everything was just as she said. She greeted me @ the door with her associate Jose. Jose took me on the test drive went over all of the features that Mohammed @ Bernardi neglected too. When it was time to go review the numbers I just knew this was the part when things would go wrong. Again, I was mistaken I was presented with the same pricing I had discussed with Jasmine. Needless to say I am now the proud owner of a 2009 Pilot. I have already told half of the staff at my job and really felt a need to tell everyone on the web. :-) More
This dealership is full with obnoxious staff. They shouldn't be in the business of selling cars. We had a really bad experience in dealing with this dealership in terms of communication, friendliness, shouldn't be in the business of selling cars. I went to Herb Chambers to look for an Accord to replace the one I had purchased a while back from a different dealership. It was one of the worst experiences of my entire life and I ended up crying in the the one I had purchased a while back from a different dealership. It was one of the worst experiences of my entire life and I ended up crying in the middle of the show room as a manager screamed at me over a parking ticket his employees caused. Here’s how it happened: A new sales person, Carlos, was very helpful and low key (but never actually showed me the car I asked to see). Despite his helpful attitude, several managers came to me to apologize for his lack of experience (which I thought was fairly rude...he was doing a great job). I was forced to do a prolonged negotiation with one of the managers when I found a car I liked. He went back and forth to his supervisor several times and refused to bring down the price. When I finally moved my chair to leave, he offered me the price I had been insisting on the whole time. I said great, and asked for a 24 hour hold (which shouldn’t have been a big deal since they didn’t even have the title on the car yet/couldn’t sell it yet). The supervisor then just stood up and left (which I take means we no longer had a deal). I apologized to poor Carlos but I don’t buy things on the spot for $15,000. When I went outside my car had a ticket (because they moved it from the paid meter when they estimated it as a trade-in). I came in for them to pay the ticket and they made me wait 15 minutes while the managers were hanging out behind the glass door chatting, laughing, and eating dinner. Finally a different manager came out and forced me to show him the exact meters outside despite their obvious error. He made a snide comment to a friend of mine who responded by yelling at the manager. The manager then started screaming at me (I didn’t raise my voice) to the point that I ushered him inside to talk to his supervisor. He yelled at me enough that I started crying from anger/frustration until every supervisor came to take care of this issue and throw their business cards at me. (Thanks to James for taking care of my ticket.) Needless to say, I will never return to a dealership that literally screamed at a customer until they cried. More
Very honest dealorship , Howie is a great guy and highly recommend them. My family has bought four Honda Accords from them (yeah I know, we love Honda's) including myself. worst dealer in planet, the worst sales people. I can smell herbs going out of business soon if he doesn't revamp the whole system and culture there. For now, make your purchase elsewhere. smell herbs going out of business soon if he doesn't revamp the whole system and culture there. For now, make your purchase elsewhere. More
Setup an appointment to view a particular vehicle. Told them I already knew the model wanted to test drive a particular trim/color to buy it if I liked it and we agreed on price. They told me it was at a them I already knew the model wanted to test drive a particular trim/color to buy it if I liked it and we agreed on price. They told me it was at a remote lot and they could have it there for an appointment at 12:15, could I make it then. Got there at 12:15 and no car yet...it was on the way. So they started the appraisal of my trade in while we waited. Then would not show me the car until we negotiated a price. Bottom line I have been to four other Honda dealers and a few other brand dealers sand had appraisal of my trade in and the exact same model I was looking to buy. These guys where 10% or $1500 lower on what they would offer for my car and $1500 more for the car than any other dealer I spoke with. I don't think the car was ever brought to the dealership the whole time I was there. Big waste of time. Avoid at all costs. They had a ton of room in their pricing and didn't care to even try to get my business. More
Hi, I'm trying to get a contact info to make a complement about Herb Chambers Honda Boston dealer. Should I keep in touch Honda or Herb Chambers. The dealership in Brookline made false promises about taking our leased Honda on trade for a new Honda. They claimed that as part of the deal we would not have to pay the overage on the miles. After a taking our leased Honda on trade for a new Honda. They claimed that as part of the deal we would not have to pay the overage on the miles. After a month we got a bill from Honda leasing that we not only owed for the mileage but that we also owed a late fee for turning the car in late. The car was turned into the dealer on time but they held onto it for a month. Now they are not only refusing to pay the mileage as promised but they are not even helping us to straighten out the late fee issue. We will never buy another car from Herb Chambers. More
A car is just a car. I want the car to be reliable and get me from A to B safely. So I am glad there are options other than Herb Chambers out there, and I will take my business elsewhere after my recent get me from A to B safely. So I am glad there are options other than Herb Chambers out there, and I will take my business elsewhere after my recent experience. I know there are not the appropriate channels within the Herb Chambers company, or the industry, for that matter, to address what happened to me, so when I saw this website I thought I might at least be able to warn others. I was told the price of a car. I gave my credit card for deposit. I was happy and excited about finally having my car search behind me. I should have known that was far too easy. I received a follow-up call to come back to the dealership because there had been a "mistake". It seems, the salesperson and the manager had a miscommunication and made a "mistake" where the price I had been quoted, and agreed to, was $2000 wrong. The offer was $2000 less than it should have been. When I resisted this extra charge, I was treated with complete and utter cruelty. I was called a thief. Apparently, according to the dealership, this was all my fault. I was told I was an awful person, someone that would steal groceries from an old lady or not return someone else's belongings. I would steal, I would lie. I must be "Miss Perfect" if I couldn't understand their mistake. As I was berated, I sat there uncomfortably, other than trying to get a word in edgewise to say that actually I wouldn't steal from someone else, I didn't know what to do. I am woman. As my discomfort increased, nervous laughter escaped at one point. I was told sit there - smirk! laugh! sigh! You are a bad person. You think you are perfect. Well, sorry, I am not Mr. Perfect he said, and I make mistakes. He told me that he was a good person, and I was trying to take advantage of him. Afraid to respond, and unsure how to handle his attack, I got up to leave. At this point, he began to raise his voice more so, to scream at me, loudly enough for everyone in showroom to hear, saying that he "Did not want the business of a person like me. Get out!" He followed behind me and yelled back to someone at his front desk dramatically to call the police. I got in my car, and drove away as far as I could handle, then pulled over and cried my heart out. What kind of treatment was that? I am extremely saddened. I know that I should not take personal offense to this incident. I am sure it is one of many that man would have on that day. I am sure he sleeps just fine every night. I won't. It does impact me. I am sure that other dealerships lie and scam to get what they want from the customer, too. But this just seems outrageous to me. This is my Herb Chambers story. More
