Car buying experience exceeded expectations Great experience at Honda Barn. I finally had to get rid of my old car after almost ten years and was pretty pessimistic about going to the dealershi Great experience at Honda Barn. I finally had to get rid of my old car after almost ten years and was pretty pessimistic about going to the dealership from prior experiences. To make it worse, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, whether to lease or buy new or used, so I was expecting to be sold all sorts of things I would not be interested in. Either the car buying experience overall has changed in ten years, or Honda Barn and my sales contact David April are very good, because my experience was the opposite of what I expected. I'm guessing it's a bit of the former and a lot of the latter. I showed up on a rainy weekday as the doors open and David was ready to go, very pleasant, listened to me think out loud about what I was looking for, gave me good useful information but with no heavy sales pitch. His calm demeanor helped me make my decision and when I did he did everything he could to get me set up and ready to go with the car. The finance manager Sean Belanger had the same pleasant professional demeanor and the atmosphere of Honda Barn overall felt like a friendly, professional culture. More

Oil Change/recall Made an appointment for an oil change, and recall for a battery sensor. They also ended up changing the brake fluid, and washed the car. Service Dept is always look to fix something I went in for state inspection in September and was told I needed new rear brakes, which was definitely true. At that point I also requested the batt I went in for state inspection in September and was told I needed new rear brakes, which was definitely true. At that point I also requested the battery be looked at due to a manufacturer recall. Both items were fixed, and was told the multi-point inspection was done. About a week or two later, I had an alert in my car to check the battery charger. I brought the car in, and asked for it to be looked at (while referencing the recall had just been done). I was told that the battery was not a Honda battery (again true since I had already had the battery replaced), and the sensors were not working because the connectors on the new battery were located in a different place than it should be. I was told they fixed it the best they could and if the alert comes up again to replace the battery with a Honda battery. I was told my car went through their multi-point inspection. I recently received a phone call saying the part that was ordered for my car had come in and I should schedule an appointment for it to be installed. I mentioned I had no idea there was a part ordered, and asked what it was for. I was told it was for the battery and the service would be of no charge since it had to do with the recall. I scheduled an appointment. My car was worked, I was asked if I could talk to them about a couple of things that came up that my car needed. I was told I needed a drive belt as well as front brake calipers, totalling about $260. I told them I came in for the part installation and did not want any further service conducted that day. I was again told my car would go through the multi-point inspection and be washed. I went back to the waiting room where I heard another customer being told their car needed additional services. The customer replied,Zwaan " This appointment was to be of no charge since it was a manufacturer recall service." Hmmmm.... when my car was ready, it was still slightly soapy and windows were smeared or not washed at all. My question is, if your service department conducted a multi-point inspection 2 times (one being a state inspection and it was determined my brake needed to be replaced) how could the front calipers be over looked as well as the drive belt? It had only been about a month and a half maximum time frame. My complaint is, whenever I go to have an oil change or a manufacturer recall service, I am ALWAYS told I need something additional fixed. I have heard many other customers in the waiting area make the same complaints, as well as how long they have to wait for their car (over the projected time frame). Honda Barn is lucky enough to be the only Honda dealership on the Seacoast (and closer than going to Manchester or North Shore, MA), however, your service department is getting a reputation for trying to get money from their customers. This will not help your business, and more likely will cost you your customers. More
