What happened to these folks? I went to the Manhasset dealership for a used car, which would be the third vehicle I purchased at that dealership in the last 5 years. I test drove I went to the Manhasset dealership for a used car, which would be the third vehicle I purchased at that dealership in the last 5 years. I test drove a used Accord and decided to buy it. Here’s where it went wrong. I asked the salesperson what the approximately $700 administrative fee was for. He told me it was a tax that the dealership collects and pays to Nassau a county. That was false. I dig deeper and his manager told me it was actually a fee with profit that the dealership collects for prepping used cars for sale. Even after acknowledging that I was given false information, the manager was not going to give me any reduction in pricing—even though this was the third vehicle I purchased from them and had all of them serviced at the dealership too. The only reason I didn’t walk out was because the finance manager stepped in and negotiated a price reduction on my behalf. She was phenomenal. I took the car home but noticed that an aftermarket tire pressure device that was in the car when I test drove it was now missing. It apparently disappeared some time between the test drive and when I took the car home. I brought the car back to the same salesperson and asked what happened. After days of “looking for it” he could not find it and, to date, I’ve been told that essentially nothing will be done about the missing device. The fabulous finance manager (Gigi) left the dealership at the end of last week. Smart move. And now, after having owned the car for one week, it is back with the dealership for two days because it needs a new catalytic converter. Frustrating. I will never buy another vehicle from them again. More
