In my opinion this dealership engages in highly deceptive business practices and should be avoided. In my particular case; here are the deceptions I encountered: 1- Honda of Tom's River misrepresented business practices and should be avoided. In my particular case; here are the deceptions I encountered: 1- Honda of Tom's River misrepresented the availability of the vehicle in Tom's River and did not disclose that the vehicle was at their Jersey City location. 2- They were presented with clear terms and proof of another deal. I communicated via phone call and texts with them and they confirmed (after 1 hour) that they could meet and possibly better my current deal for the same vehicle. The delay in agreement was done to give the appearance that a manager had reviewed and agreed to match the deal. Which was expressed in writing (text) 3- They projected a sense that the deal needed to be done on the same day, on their location, even though the vehicle wasn't even available (as per #1). Needless to say there was no deal. They said they would lose money on what they agreed to. Everything was done to just get me to show up at the dealership; which took several hours of my time, gas and tolls. Clearly not a trustworthy business in my experience. Would not recommend. More
So I own a 2016 Honda Civic which I bought new. The 2016-2021 Honda Civic is known for widespread air conditioning failures, primarily due to defective condensers and compressor shaft seals. Back i The 2016-2021 Honda Civic is known for widespread air conditioning failures, primarily due to defective condensers and compressor shaft seals. Back in 2015 Honda extended the warranty on these defective parts for 10 years. Over the years I have had issues with the AC blowing warm air and 3 years ago I brought in in and had the compressor/condenser replaced as it was not working and leaking refrigerant. Just a couple weeks ago I was driving with my wife, on an extremely hot day here in NJ, and once again the AC started blowing warm air only. I made an appointment for 11am on 7/6/26 to have it checked out. When I arrived at the service center, 15 minutes early, I noticed there was only one service rep. working and he seemed overwhelmed. He had a bunch of service tickets on his desk and explained to me that it might be a little longer wait time. I was fine with that and proceeded to the waiting room. I sat in the waiting room for over 4 hours with no update, Finally someone came out and told me the issue was with the compressor again and it would need to be replaced, at a cost of close to $2,000.00. Because the extended warranty expired in 2025 I was basically on my own, even with all of the known issues with the faulty parts failing. So basically I am supposed to shell out close to two grand to have another faulty compressor installed and hope this one lasts for at least another 3 years? I have been a loyal Honda customer for well over 35 years, until now. I find it really hard picturing myself purchasing another Honda vehicle after this experience. I should have known better to bring the car to the dealer for servicing to begin with but I figured maybe they would do the right thing, which to me should be covering any issues with a failing compressor/condenser which they know are faulty to begin with. My local mechanic can do the same work for less than half the cost to me. I received a call today saying that if I bring the car back in I can receive a complimentary 15 point inspection. So I guess they want me to come back in, maybe sit there for another 4 hours, so they can tell me once again that the compressor needs to be replaced? To say I am disappointed is truly an understatement. I reached out to Honda corporate but I know they are not going to do anything about it. I really feel bad for the others out there who own this model car that are going to have to deal with the same issue. You would think that Honda would do the right thing by us but I guess losing a few customers will not hurt business at all. More
As a loyal customer for 20 years the loyalty discount should be higher and set at 1K. Also make sure the sticker reflex's MSRP and your discount/Invoice price estimate. It is very important to be hones should be higher and set at 1K. Also make sure the sticker reflex's MSRP and your discount/Invoice price estimate. It is very important to be honest in sales and not misleading to make money. Give the customer a good price and tell them how much you make from the sale. This is why everyone hates car buying as the customer we feel you have simply gotten one over the customer. In the long run you will sell more cars by reputation than slick marketing. More
