Unrealistic Service Timing Expectations and Terrible Wash Prime Volkswagen was able to get me in for a same day appointment in order to code a spare key on my VW GTI. I was told the key would be coded in abou Prime Volkswagen was able to get me in for a same day appointment in order to code a spare key on my VW GTI. I was told the key would be coded in about 45 minutes, but after waiting two hours in the lounge, I was sure that was not the case. My car was taken out numerous times either on the street or within the lot, I’m not sure, but regardless, they decided to run tests on things they did not need to check, for example the suspension knocking, and trouble codes. My advice to Prime would be to ask the customer about these issues before making it their business and making the customer wait another hour without any update from the service desk the entire time. I would’ve been able to tell them very quickly what the reason for the suspension knocking was. Not only did my appointment take two hours, but I was watching the service techs wash the cars, and they were using scrub brushes. This causes paint wear because embedded rocks in the brush from previous washes can scratch the paint. I would’ve preferred that they ask me whether or not I wanted my car washed, or maybe even just rinsed it with a power washer rather than taking it upon themselves to do a touch/hands on wash. Shortly after getting my car back, I felt the paint and noticed that it was completely stripped of all wax and lubricants which means Prime either used a dish soap, or a different heavy duty degreaser on the paint. These products make the paint look good temporary, but also rid the paint of all the protection (wax/skin) that shields against rocks and other debris that may be flying up on the body while the car is being driven. I also noticed while getting my car back that the check engine light was on. I went back inside to ask why the check engine light was on right after they had been servicing my vehicle. The tech was fairly snippy, and although we came to an arrangement in the end, the service manager and the tech weren’t very polite about the situation as I could see the service manager roll his eyes as he told the service tech to go read the trouble codes on my vehicle. Prime has potential, but they should understand that some of their customers are car guys too! With personal vehicles, a dealer should never assume they know better than the owner about vehicle specific problems/washing methods. Maybe if they read this review and fix their issues, I’ll give them my business again. Until then, myself and Autowerkes Maine will be the only ones to service my car. More
