A very bad experience! About 5 years ago I leased a new car from Shawnee Mission Hyundai. 3 years ago I leased one from a Hyundai dealership in Florida. Both times in the pa About 5 years ago I leased a new car from Shawnee Mission Hyundai. 3 years ago I leased one from a Hyundai dealership in Florida. Both times in the past I was given a reliable and honest deal. Five months ago I leased a new Hyundai Elantra from Bryan Ball at Shawnee Mission Hyundai. I told Bryan up front I had zero money to put into the deal. He said they would handle the last two payments on my current lease and would also pay the “excessive mileage charge” (that I knew would be over $1600 and that I had taken off on my previous two leases with Hyundai. Knowing I wouldn’t have to pay these two charges, I signed a new lease on 4/14/2016 and drove away with my new Hyundai Elantra. BUT, on June 17th I received a huge shock...a letter from Hyundai Finance stating that I owed them $2501.34! Right away I called Bryan Ball asking "Why these extra charges when you said they would be covered? I want you to immediately take care of this!" Bryan then told me to send him a copy of the letter from Hyundai Finance and said "I will handle it". Bryan did send me an email confirmation stating he received a copy of the Hyundai Finance letter. So, I truly thought the errors would be corrected and what was agreed upon would be honored by Bryan. But on August 30th, (and after not hearing back from Brian or anyone else) I received another shock!! A letter came in the mail from a collection agency stating that I needed to immediately remit $2,225.80! During the next two days my dad and I were in contact with Robert Childers, the GM at Shawnee Mission Hyundai (we talked with him in person), and also talked with Bryan again on the phone. But, they said the lease was signed, the dealership is struggling, and that they won’t handle the charges. My dad and I were dumbfounded. So we contacted Hyundai USA and talked with their consumer complaint department, but to no avail. We then contacted Hyundai Finance, telling them about the fraudulent charges. By the way, they do have record (from this June) of me telling them Bryan would be handling the problem. When we talked with Bryan Ball on 9/1, he agreed that he dropped the ball by not getting back to me (even though I emailed him a copy of the Hyundai Finance letter demanding payment, and even thought I wrote a note on the bottom of the Hyundai Finance letter stating "Attention Bryan Ball, All of these charges should be taken care of per our signing new lease agreement. Thank you". But Bryan failed to get back with me knowing my account would be turned over to collection and knowing he would handling the charges like he promised. I hope Better Business Bureau can help me with this serious problem. If not I will have to handle this legally. Thank you, Bonnie More
