When we were prepared to look for another used car for a college aged child, we reached back out to Rob Crail who sold us the used car in 2012. We picked out a 2004 Alero that Rob heavily marketed...his words included everything to how much the mechanic thought it was a great car, to having recalls all addressed, to the fact that he had wanted the car for his niece but she disliked the color of the vehicle. We did a test drive with the vehicle and it appeared to be sound. Unfortunately, once we delivered the car to our daughter it became problematic. Twice, in two days, the vehicle left her stranded. One time there was a total power failure and the second time the vehicle maintained power but the engine was revving without moving. Each time the vehicle restarted after waiting on the side of the road for several minutes. Despite purchasing the vehicle "AS IS" we had the expectation that it would last longer than seven days. Fortunately, Tom Carey, the GM, worked with us to achieve a reasonable resolution to the issue of the unreliable vehicle. I would recommend the dealership based on our previous experiences; however, when purchasing a used vehicle you need to be very clear that a vehicle noted to be "AS IS" runs the significant risk of being unreliable. We've learned our lesson and will either purchase new or "certified used" in the future. It's not worth the risk to our family. More
