His assigned back-up, who also been doing a great job, who I spoke with on delivery day and let him know approximately what time I would be arriving to pick up my vehicle, was gone for the day, or at least inexplicably out, when I arrived. When I walked in the door it was not clear that anyone even knew I was expected. It sure seemed like they were surprised that I showed up. Here I was spending $60+ thousand with them, and their reaction on my walking in was "meh" at best. The receptionist was clearly bored out of her mind and based on her greeting had zero sense regarding the fact that this was a MAJOR purchase, and not shopping at a run down chain store. And then, after their surprise abated, there was no "thanks for coming in, you must be very excited", or "sorry your sales person is unexpectedly out, but we are glad to see you and before he left he made sure we are all ready to make this the perfect experience." The sales manager was nice but did absolutely nothing to personally mitigate the situation. After immediately passing me off he was just gone. The salesman he plugged in to keep things rolling and to go over the features of the vehicle seemed more interested in being somewhere else; at one point answering a question by advising I could learn what I needed on YouTube. There was just no sense of excitement, urgency, or perceived gratitude from anyone. I was in the building at least twenty minutes before we even went out to look at the vehicle, which had been custom ordered. Seems like that should have been #1 on the to-do list. It was sit here, we'll take your money, here is your vehicle, so long. The one guy who did his job fairly well was the finance person. He at least seemed to care. Everything up to the actual purchase experience had been great. I was excited about buying a new custom built vehicle. It was great, right up to the point where I walked in the door ready to see my new vehicle and write the check. It was a very odd experience and has really rattled my trust of this dealership.
