Francisco, our sales contact, was respectful, cheerful, and efficient. The waiting area was clean and tidy -- a fact which I had ample time to appreciate. We had an appointment to come pick up the car at 1:00. We showed up at 1 and my wife took the car on a test drive. By 1:30 we were ready to sign papers and hand over a check. "There's another customer with the finance guy, so it'll be a while. Why not get some lunch?" We did. At 2:30, "there are just two customers ahead of you. Have a seat in the waiting area." My wife left me at the dealer because she had actual work to get done. By 5:30, various advisors were strolling past me, assuring me that I'd be up soon. This would have made me very nervous, if I were financing the purchase. My banks are not even in this time zone and there's no way they'd be taking new loan calls this far after hours. It was 7:30 when I finally drove off the lot. I walked in the shop ready to pay cash. I had configured and ordered the car months earlier. This was going to be the easiest commission and the smoothest deal they were going to see all day. This should have been a straightforward transaction, and it was, when it was actually being processed. The delay between, "Yep, that's the car I ordered," and, "Okay, here's your money," was inexcusable. If I had walked in to buy something off the lot, they'd not have seen me after, "Go get some lunch." More
