We live close to Bobby Layman and that is the ONLY reason we went there because my dad and grandparents have both had bad experiences going there. When we got there, we dealt with Ron Jones. I had dealt with Chris Coffman and he was nice but Ron was a complete and total jerk. I have never been treated with so much disrespect and contradiction. You could tell he didnt want to sell a car to us. He was rude to me, my mother, and even my 10 year old brother! It got to the point where I had to go off on him and walk out of the store because he was such a complete and total a**. We then get a call from the manager of Bobby Layman, Fred Deirfield. He told us to come back in and he would make Ron apologize to us. Even with his apology he was pathetic and still tried to blame the situation on us. Fred was very nice but we could tell that it was because he wanted a sale. They wouldn't work with us at all on the price and I will never step foot in that dealership again because of how badly I was treated. If you EVER go there, god forbid, do NOT let Ron Jones be the dealer you work with! We considered getting a Malibu as well and he wouldn't ever do as much as go get the vehicle for us like a dealer should. He gave us the key and made my mother and I walk out and find the vehicle ourselves by listening to the horn. We later went to Jeff Wyler of Columbus and they treated us great. The best I have ever been treated by a car dealer. I dealt with Jimmy and he was absolutely great and because of how awesome he was, we were able to make a deal within a couple of hours and drive off the lot. They even have us a round of applause as we walked out!! Now thats customer service. If you live in central Ohio area, do NOT go to Bobby Layman. I know its a bit of a drive, but go to Jeff Wyler of Columbus. More

I have wanted a GMC Acadia for a couple of years. I decided to try Bobby Layman and my experience was the best. My sales person, Mike Colles, was very informative and there was no pressure to buy, whic decided to try Bobby Layman and my experience was the best. I got exactly what I wanted for my car on trade-in and when I picked up my car the folks could not have been more friendly. This was the best experience I have ever had in purchasing a vehicle and I have had many. If I get the same treatment from their service department I will be one happy camper. I could go on forever about the postive experiences I had, but it is easier to say there were no negatives. This was all accomplished in just 2 days and I only looked at one other car, but when I found out I could own an Acadia I made the decision to go for it. Thanks to all of Bobby Layman's staff; sales, trade-in, service department, finance department and Todd for taking care of getting the car ready. Good Grief! I thought I would go online and write a few reviews about the complete incompetence of this dealership but apparently many others have beat me to this. So my advice is DON'T JUMP! My first mistake. I dropped it off at 9 am, noting that I had to be at work at 5. After being assured this estimate would take no more than two hours, I was shuttled back to my home. Then I proceeded to call at 11, again at 1:30, 2:30, 3:15, by 4 I'm frantic. Every time I was assured I would be called right back. No chance. Needless to say, I was almost 2 hours late for work and was suspended ten days as a result. ( I had to call off two months ago when my daughter fell and broke her front teeth, other than that, I am never late). Sooo, when I get back to my truck there is no one around, just the cashier to take my $106 for the 9 hours of BS! The shuttle driver promised that my fees would be credited back to me and I was given a hand written estimate on a scrap piece of paper (worth $106? you be the judge) full of illegible notes and abbreviations that meant nothing to anyone who was not a mechanic. The estimate? $3000.00 and the only legible thing on the page. The kicker? I was told that the problem I had brought it in for was due to the sway bar links needing replaced, they wanted $95 X2 for the links and $150 for labor, my husband did it in 45 mins and paid $30 each for the links. However, the problem continues so they were wrong. I was also told I need new front brakes, which are less than six months old. Whatever. So I waited for the credit to be put back on my card. Never happened, so I called and told the service manager the whole ridiculous story. He promised he would check into everything and that I would for sure be getting a call back FROM HIM that day. Nope. He had the same guy who jerked me around and caused me to lose $1100 (at minimum from 10 days of lost work) etc etc call me back. He offered a whole host of excuses as to why all this happened, basically it was not his fault as you may have guessed, and his remedy was to again promise the refund for the hand written estimate as it was totally useless. I suggest not bothering with this poor excuse for a business. I plan to post this review everywhere possible in the hopes of saving others from this frustration and also in the hope that BOBBY LAYMAN will lose at least as much money as I have. More

I recently purchased a 2007 Chevy Uplander at Bobby Layman. I had to wait almost sixty days to get my memorandum title so I could register the car. The only reason I even got the title was because I had to put in a complaint with the attorney general. The kept telling me that it was my previous finance company not accepting the pay off and finally told me that they faxed the check to the previous finance company. I purchased the car in July and thought all was fine. Now on top of the issue with the title, my transmission has completely gone. There is no possible way that after having the car for a little over three months that I could have destroyed the transmission. They told me at the time of purchase that the car was sent through service and everything was in great condition. Stupid me for not taking it to my own service shop to have it inspected, but I will NEVER go back to this dealer!! More

I came dangerously close to buying a car from Bobby Layman Chevrolet. After 10 days (the allotted time on the contract to complete the sale) of waiting for their lender to verify my income and complet Layman Chevrolet. When I informed him I was considering bringing the car back per my contractual right, he began screaming and cursing at me. He accused me of being everything he was during the sales process: deceptive, dishonest, manipulative, etc. I asked him to get my trade-in vehicle ready for pick up when I returned their car. The conversation ended when he yelled, "I'm not going to f***king help you with anything" and hung up on me. While completing the paperwork in the show room, I had the benefit of overhearing how the salesmen talk about their customers. Two of the salesmen were discussing how they were going to essentially "punish" a potential buyer by reducing the proposed trade-in value for not buying when promised. It is clear that the "culture" at Bobby Layman Chevrolet is one of taking advantage of buyers rather than helping them. There is no wrong in selling cars nor making a fair profit selling cars, but I advise anyone considering this dealership to steer clear and take your business elsewhere. P.S. While completing the paperwork, I asked if they had any coffee. I was escorted through the showroom to the service area and where my escort pointed to a coffee VENDING MACHINE. And when the salesman went to put gas in the vehicle, he came back with barely over half a tank... in an economy car. Lame. More

I BOUGHT A 2005 PONTIAC GRANDPRIX IN FEB. TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED, MAJOR TUNE UP , NO OIL CHANGE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING HOSE, BRAKES, ROTARS, NOW I NEED A ALTERNATOR, S REPLACED, MAJOR TUNE UP , NO OIL CHANGE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING HOSE, BRAKES, ROTARS, NOW I NEED A ALTERNATOR, STARTER, NEW BATTTERY, AND ALSO SOMETHING ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION CLEANING. I HAD TO PURCHASE A SECOND 30 DAY TAG CAUSE THEY DIDN'T SEND ME MY TITLE, THEN FOUND OUT THE CAR WASN'T IN MY NAME IT WAS STILL IN THE ORIGINBAL OWNERS NAME. I SPOKE WITH AN ATTORNEY ALREADY REGARDING THIS MATTER, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ALL THEM NEED TO GO BACK TO MECHANIC SCHOOL. BOBBY LAYMAN CHEVROLET IS A JOKE AND A SCMA, AND IF CUSTOMERS KEEP COMPLAINING AND NOT FIGHTING, THIS COMPANY WILL REMAIN OPEN AND CONTINUE TO SCAM PEOPLE. WE NEED TO FIGHT. More

I purchased a 2005 Dodge Magnum on November 12, 2010 from Bobby Layman Chevrolet. I arranged a verbal agreement with my sales associate Michael Colles that I would be given 7 days after purchase of the vehic Bobby Layman Chevrolet. I arranged a verbal agreement with my sales associate Michael Colles that I would be given 7 days after purchase of the vehicle to have it inspected and that the dealership would pay any necessary repairs or take the vehicle back. I made this arrangement since I lived 2 hours away in Cincinnati. Upon inspection, there were two main issues needing to be repaired. After a few conversations the dealership GM Fred Dierfield agreed to fix the two main issues. I delivered the vehicle back to the dealership. After over 35 days and several phone calls, I was able to pick up my vehicle. When I did, one issue was resolved however the other issue was not. Also, there was now a separate issue that was not there before. At Fred Dierfield's recommendation, I brought the vehicle back to Cincinnati and had work completed there. Even though they agreed to fix the issue, all I asked was for them to pay half the total repair bill. They agreed. I have been calling now for over 4 weeks and have not received a check. I will never do business with them again and would not recommend you do either. BUYER BEWARE! More

I bought my car there 3 months ago. I had to replace a tire immediately due to it having a flat spot in it; only $100, nothing to go crazy about. Today I find out not only are my brake pads worn (inevitab tire immediately due to it having a flat spot in it; only $100, nothing to go crazy about. Today I find out not only are my brake pads worn (inevitably will happen) but all the rotors were bad, and all the calipers were bad (1 caliper was actually completely stuck to the rotor); $1000 brake job. Not happy at all. Mechanic pretty much confirmed to me that there's no way that there wasn't signs of this 3 months ago. So I was sold a car with brakes that were a ticking time bomb. Not illegal by any means, but it should have been brought to my attention when I purchased it as is. Now I am just an unhappy customer that feels like he had one pulled over on him. I wont be back, nor will I refer anyone. *The above review was posted on Facebook. Soon after, it was deleted and they called ranting and raving that the review was negative and that we were "slandering" them. Nothing in the above review is false or made up. It is based on our experience. Very unprofessional. Never once did Steve return our phone calls (even though he is adamant that if you have any problems, call him), but after this review was posted, he was immediately calling and acting completely hot-headed. Stay away from this place, unless you want to get screwed. More

We purchased a 2005 Kia Sorento about 6 weeks ago. We liked the vehicle when we saw it but we noticed immediately that the interior of the vehicle was FILTHY and I wondered how they could sit a vehicle l liked the vehicle when we saw it but we noticed immediately that the interior of the vehicle was FILTHY and I wondered how they could sit a vehicle like this on the lot..obviously they didn't even clean it but I thought if I could get a good deal, I wouldn't complain. There was a spare flat tire sitting in the back end because the salesman claimed they couldn't figure out how to mount it underneath but literally two days after bringing it home, we took it to a tire shop closeby and got it patched and the guy mounted it underneath with no problem. Then when we test drove it, we noticed a sound in the back end that we thought was the brakes going bad, so we mentioned it to the salesman, who even took it for a drive with us and he "reassured" us SEVERAL times that it was just rust on the brakes and it would all ware off after driving it a few times. He repeated OVER AND OVER AGAIN that they pay their mechanic $400 to inspect every used vehicle "with a fine toothed comb", so it wouldn't make sense that they would miss something. Again, we're thinking if we could get a good enough deal, and it was indeed bad brakes, we could fix it ourselves, since the vehicle was not under any warranty. Well, we ended up getting what we thought was an excellent deal, so we bought it. We took it to our own personal mechanic the following week and found out that not only the brakes, but the Ring and Pinion is going bad. We had the brakes fixed but it will cost us over $1300 to have the ring and pinion fixed. Not only this but, the OIL WAS BLACK and the guy said the belts all needed replaced!! Our mechanic is very reliable and we saw for ourselves what he was talking about. Belts cost like $20-30, so how could the $400 inspector at Bobby Layman miss it the first place and not fix it? And shouldn't an oil change be the first and most obvious thing to do? My husband called up Bobby Layman and talked to the used car manager and explained what was going on and how upset we were over all of the repairs we had to do...especially since the salesman repeated that they pay the mechanic $400 to go over everything with a "fine toothed comb". So we took it back to their repair shop to have it looked at and guess what? They said we needed a ring and pinion!! How funny that all of the sudden they see it but they managed to look over it during their so called inspection the first time. BUT they were not going to pay for anything because the car was not under warranty and they would lose money if they fixed it. After talking with the manager for a while my husband was finally able to drain $400 out of him, in which the manager was not happy about and said that they would be losing their profit. Well WHAT ABOUT THE CUSTOMER? Look at how much money we are out of now. We cant afford $1300 for the ring and pinion, so we're just screwed until we have the money and hope that nothing major will happen to our car. I can say that most of the employees we dealt with were friendly, but that doesn't make up for the fact that we are NOT satisfied AT ALL after our whole experience. Bobby Layman has been around for years...they're a reliable and honest company, right? WRONG!!!!!! More
