The sales person was excellant. We did have a problem with a tire but the salesman stayed on top of the situation and got it corrected. I would definitely recommend Craig to everyone. More

Hello. After reading your review, I thought I would reach out to you. I do understand your frustration and apologize. The manager of used cars you spoke with, Adam, controls all facets. As a practice, we do not "hold" cars unless someone is flying in from another state. In speaking with Adam, he states that you visited our store 3 separate days and refused to finance with any of our banks. The day you were attempting to purchase, you simply took the figures to your bank to try and obtain financing, which was not approved at that time. My understanding was that you called back at roughly 5 PM, at which time the vehicle had already been sold. I do apologize for the lost time...and possible improper treatment..which I take very seriously and am investigating today. I know it is not always fair, but in fairness to all customers, we always operate on first come first serve...and cannot "hold" vehicles if someone is trying to obtain financing. Please let me know if this is inaccurate, as we are here to sell cars and make people happy. We certainly cannot expect future business if people are not treated properly. Thanks. Brian

Sir, The information that you have recieve is incorrect. I have been approved for a loan with the South Carolina State Credit Union since Friday November 2nd. If needed, my loan officer is able to provide proof of that information for you. Mr. Boyd was indeed aware of this because he spoke with my loan officer. Her name is Pamela Miller. She called to get the details of the automobile to place into their system at the bank. Obviously, not only are these sales person rude and lack integrity, they're also liars. Also, I began to read reports from other consumers, and I read on Yelp.com where the exact same thing happened at this exact location and she was coming from out of town. The response she recieved from Dick Dyer was, you all do not hold used cars. If you do not hold used cars, I understand however, this is something I should have been informed of when I headed to the bank for the check. The only reason it took as long as it did was because the bank was very busy on that particular day. Also, I was not in your facility 3 times. I was in your facility 2 times which was Saturday Novemeber 3rd and Monday November 5th. Saturday I refused financing with your banks because as I've said a numerous amount of times, I was already approved for financing with my bank and I still am. When I returned Monday, I was approved, I was only coming to talk about pricing and possibly having my car paid off. You all refused, which was fine, I still agreed to get the car. Adam told me on the phone when I spoke with him after the car was sold to someone else, that Mr. Boyd should have just simply given me the car to drive to the bank. I am much more upset about the way I was treated, than the car being sold to someone else.

Also, It was confirmed Monday when I returned that Mr. Addison hadnt even been spoken to about the way that he had treated me on Saturday. He wasn't even aware that I had called and requested another sales person, which means Mr. Bowers looked over my complaint. Dick Dyer Toyota is supposed to be a reputable dealership however I wasn't treated with a ounce of respect. When I first mentioned the loan that I'm approved for the first thing Mr. Addison said was "That's what they all say". Now you're saying to me to your understanding, I wasnt even approved for the loan. I had the approval letter with me when I came to see the car. I certainly hope that since this incident has been brought to your attention, you will go over and beyond to make sure that your employees recieve the correct training on how to communicate with the customers in any situation. This will keep your company from taking losses in the future. I am just as angry today as I was on Monday because I have never been treated with such disrespect. I understand that things happen and with most businesses, they try to make up for the mistake. They do whatever they can to accomodate the customer. I deserve an apology from the men that mistreated me which were Anthony Addison and Tremaine Boyd.

And lastly, I would like the information to your corporate office. This is information that I was unable to obtain from your managers in the facility. I have Customer Relations in Torrance California but I need information for the main office. I want an apology from those sales persons and I will see to it that I recieve it.

Midlands Toyota responded

Correct. It appears that there were errors made by our staff on many levels. Mostly, I am upset that our policy of not "holding" cars was not conveyed properly. I am somewhat baffled as to why if you were approved on Friday and visited the store on Saturday, that you did not execute the purchase at that time? With a staff of 20 sales people and 100 used cars in inventory, we urge customers to make the purchase at that time as our average time on lot for a car is about 7-10 days. Again, I do apologize for the issues you encountered and I am going to address this with all parties when my General Sales Manager returns from vacation on Monday. While I cannot control who sells what...who buys what..we can control our staff to act in a kind and respectful manner. There is no excuse for rude behavior and we will not tolerate any member of our staff conducting themselves as such. As far as your request for a corporate office, this is the only facility and location associated with ownership of the Toyota store. I am the General Manager.

I did not purchase the car on Saturday because Mr. Addison did not seem to believe that I was approved for a loan with my bank. I will say this again. His response to me telling him that I have a loan was "That's what they all say". Sunday when I called back to ask why he ran my credit, he had no reason as to why he ran my credit. His response was "Call me Monday and I will send the bill of sale to your bank". I was told by my bank that I shouldn't have an issue getting a car over the weekend but Mr. Addison completely ignored the fact that I had already been approved for a loan. I understand what youre saying about the average time a car is on the lot, however I was told Saturday that you guys had just gotten the car and it hadnt even been cleaned yet. It was in the back with some other used cars. Monday the car was still there, and I wasnt informed that while leaving to go get the check to pay for the vehicle, I was risking the car being snatched right from under me. As a result of this, my insurance went up when I removed the malibu and I missed a whole day of work to accomplish nothing. I want an apology from those sales persons of yours. I am requesting an apology from Mr. Boyd and Mr. Addison. The way I was treated was unacceptable. It is no longer about the car because I will be back out this weekend searching for another car with this $15,000 loan I have with South Carolina State Credit Union and I will find a car else where.
