Absolutely unacceptable experience with Motor Cars of Chicago. They advertised a 7-year-old Volkswagen Golf R (VIN: WVWVA7AUXKW199295) as stock, which was the entire reason I was interested. Based on that claim, I put down a $2,000 deposit—only to later find out the car had excessive modifications and custom tuning. That’s not a small oversight, that’s outright misrepresentation. If I had known the truth, I would have never handed over $2,000. When I requested a refund because of their false advertising, they completely ghosted me. No response, no explanation—just silence. That alone tells you everything about how they treat customers once they have your money. And it gets worse—they tried to tack on $3,096 in add-ons: a $1,098 Waypoint GPS package and a $1,998 appearance protection plan. On a 7-year-old Golf R. That’s nearly 10% of the car’s value for questionable extras. This isn’t a high-end exotic—it’s a used performance hatchback. The pricing is absurd and feels predatory. This dealership comes across as dishonest, misleading, and completely unwilling to take responsibility. I strongly recommend avoiding Motor Cars of Chicago at all costs. More
