Hi Bret, my formal apologies that you are feeling this way about your vehicle service. A 2005 vehicle with 232,711 miles and an after market catalytic converter can definitely get clogged like that. Nissan recommends original equipment manufactured parts on all vehicles in order to prolong the life of your car. We appreciate your business and want to clear things up for you, please feel free to reach me at 818-787-8400 ext.180 Maria Serrano Customer Relations Manager

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't see my reply in google reviews because it doesn't let you reply, I just added a reply to the initial review. But here is what I replied on google reviews. REPLY TO Maria Serrano (Customer Relations Manager): Thank you for taking the time to respond. For clarification, the vehicle has 202,000 miles and I understand any catalytic converter can get clogged including an aftermarket. The question is how long does it take for that to happen. Like I said, I have done a lot of work on cars and what your shop it telling me is unbelievable. And, I had my car towed to another shop (because it would have damaged the engine to drive it in the condition your company left it) and the mechanic has just informed me that the catalytic converter is not plugged it is an engine coil issue that I paid your mechanic to fix. I say all that to tell you that the problem was not the catalytic converter and that my assessment of your technicians seeing aftermarket parts and automatically assuming those are the problem was a correct assessment. Or they are incompetent. If there is another logical option besides those two please explain.

UPDATE: 3/12/2020 I had the vehicle towed to a different shop today (recommended and trusted by a friend) because it is would likely damage the engine to drive it in the current condition. After spending three hours labor (@ half the cost of the dealership) the mechanic said that the catalytic converter is not clogged, rather there is an intermittent electrical signal getting to the misfiring cylinders (1, 3, and 5). Once again, as you can see in the attached photo of my bill, Nissan of Van Nuys charged me and claimed to have fixed the misfire in cylinder 5 and blamed the multiplication of misfiring cylinders on my aftermarket catalytic converter. When in reality, there was a wiring problem. Either the master technician knew my catalytic converter wasn't really the problem and tried get me to do the unnecessary work and then I would have had to pay him to fix the real problem OR he was incompetent to diagnose the real problem and truly thought it was the catalytic converter. Neither of those options are good if I am thinking of having someone work on my car.
