This is George Suttle responding from North Central Ford. I do not know your name, due to the limited contact information on the form you filled out. I do not know the details concerning this transaction, but I believe I know what might have happened. Our sales and finance staff can not quote a rate without a bank approval. Any rate quote without that would be speculation. It sounds like you got a "pre-approval" from a third party company, possibly Road Loans. That company does indeed charge rather large inception fees, which make it impossible to use them unless it is on a vehicle with a very substantial mark up to cover the fee. We generally do not carry used vehicles with the large markups associated with those kind of loans. I do not think you were lied to, though. Please let me know if this is the case.

This was for my daughter in law who was trying to establish credit. We were lied to by the sales rep. I agreed to the down payment of $1500 and the salesman never mentioned the form he asked us to sign asked for 3000 down payment. That is misleading and, as far as I am concerned, that is being deceitful. The loan we got may have had a higher rate than what you stated you could offer, however, they were upfront with their charges, which you certainly weren't. She has had a car now for several months and is establishing her credit now. She has not missed as single payment.

I am happy to hear of the happy ending. Am I correct in assuming the Road Loans pre-approval? I can assure you, if that was the case, there was no dece. They do indeed charge up to $4000 in fees to the dealership, which makes it veirtually impossible for us to use them for financing at our low prices.

There was deceit, I am sorry that you have a problem understanding this. If he told us 1500 down payment then tried to get us to sign a statement saying we were paying 3000 down payment that is deceitful. You wasted HOURS of our time and I still get angry when I think of this encounter. From consumer reports out there I know we aren't the only ones. Good luck on improving your customer satisfaction scores.

Dear reviewer, I'm not sure of your name or the exact details of your situation, but I would like to address any concerns. My name is George Suttle. I did not work for North Central Ford in 2004, but I am currently the Internet Sales Director. Trades are rarely worth the NADA numbers, as those are used by banks for the basis of loans. They are not based on actual auction / trade data. Factual online trade estimates can be found at autotrader.com . They do base their estimates on actual wholesale market values. It also indicates you bought a 3 year red carpet lease instead of a purchase. The contracts for those are very different from a purchase. I do not know why a dealership would "sneak" in a red carpet lease, as it is the same as a purchase to a dealership. Whichever contract the customer prefers is what we do.
