I recently had a brake job on the front axel.It seemed I recently had a brake job on the front axel. It seemed ok at first, but after a two harder than normal stops I heard a slight grinding noise. Then a I recently had a brake job on the front axel. It seemed ok at first, but after a two harder than normal stops I heard a slight grinding noise. Then about two weeks later I had had the rear brakes repaired elsewhere. I then had a panic stop that sounded like a train wreck. I thought it might be the rear axle so I asked the mechanic to check it. He advised it was the front axle brakes. This all happened in about 6 weeks . My original brakes lasted 130000 miles. So I brought it back to the dealer. After waiting for four hours with a 1 oclock appointment, the service rep came back to inform me that I must have been abusive to my brakes in some manner as the rotors were Ground and damaged the pads were no good anymore and the caliper sliders needed to be replaced. The cost of all this would be $600, stating that the cost would be $600 but that the pads and rotors would be no charge because of warranty. I took his recommendation slip and informed him I could not afford that. I went back and saw my other mechanic and asked him to take a look at the brakes in the front axle and give me a synopsis of the problem. I also told him to check the sliders. He informed me that the rotor was worn and he could grind out the problem but the pads were shot and appeared to be aftermarket. I asked him to repair it and he did so for a reasonable price. Now my brakes are fine As a result, I am not pleased with the entire Exchange concerning my front brakes with the dealer. More
