Do not trust Patriot Subaru’s advertised "No Gimmicks" Lifetime Warranty. My 2019 Ascent failed the Maine State Inspection due to a cracked weld on the front exhaust assembly, a known factory defect docum Lifetime Warranty. My 2019 Ascent failed the Maine State Inspection due to a cracked weld on the front exhaust assembly, a known factory defect documented perfectly under Subaru TSB 09-106-23R. There is a major bait-and-switch happening here. While a standard exhaust pipe replacement might normally sit outside of powertrain coverage in a generic parts catalog, Subaru Corporate explicitly designated the repair of this specific structural failure under the Powertrain Warranty on page 3 of TSB 09-106-23R. Because Patriot's Lifetime Warranty explicitly states it "duplicates the factory powertrain warranty," this repair is contractually covered. The level of administrative incompetence here is staggering. On my official invoice from Patriot, the service department actually wrote: "Lifetime powertrain does not apply. There is no exhaust manifold." Yet, on the very next line of the exact same document, their own technician contradicts this entirely, writing: "Technician found exhaust manifold cracked near the flanges ... Exhaust Manifold (All updated parts and gaskets from 09-106-23R please) — $2,047.88." They literally claimed the part didn't exist while trying to charge me over $2,000 to fix it. Despite this clear diagnostic and the explicit TSB language, Service Manager Paul Hall denied the claim. They opened a claim with the third-party administrator (WiseF&I / Vehicle Service Administrator LLC) but failed to submit the mandatory diagnostic codes to move it forward. When I escalated this severe breach of contract and paperwork failure to the General Manager, David Shoemaker, my emails were completely ignored. I am posting this review after giving them 21 days to respond and work with me, but leadership has chosen to completely cut off communication. They use third-party administrative loopholes to escape their own advertised promises. Get corporate involved immediately, because local management and leadership at Patriot will completely ghost you to avoid honoring their word. More
I've purchased and traded in a lot of vehicles over the years from highly rated dealership across several states, but none have come close to the level of attention, professionalism, and genuine care we ex years from highly rated dealership across several states, but none have come close to the level of attention, professionalism, and genuine care we experienced at Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine. From the moment we stepped onto the lot and into the showroom, we were warmly welcomed. Our sales associate, J.D. Defelice, immediately made us feel at ease, introducing us to members of both the sales and service teams, several who had come over to greet us creating an atmosphere that felt more like a friendly gathering than a transaction. There was absolutely no pressure . . . just easy, conversation and sincere interest in getting to know who we were , what we were looking for, and how they could best help. We were trading in a 2023 Outback Touring and were genuinely impressed by the advanced diagnostic tools used by the used car and service teams. The process felt incredibly transparent and high-tech, and was something akin to an automotive version of an open MRI, clearly showing every aspect of the vehicle's condition, both inside and out. It gave us complete confidence that we were receiving a fair and accurate assessment. The purchase of our new 2026 Subaru Solterra couldn't have been smoother. The sales process was seamless, and the financing experience was just as easy (thanks Matt) -- efficient, straightforward and handled with complete professionalism. All in all, this was hands-down the best car-buying experience we've had, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a dealership that truly puts the customer first. J. So imagine my excitement that I happen to purchase an Acura automobile while traveling in the tri-state of NY/NJ/CT and will have it serviced in Maine. By….the best in the business. Thank you Patriot! More
I'm not sure what is happening with the Service Department at Patriot Subaru in Saco. I have been a faithful, consistent customer of Patriot Service since I purchased my Impreza in 2017. I have b Department at Patriot Subaru in Saco. I have been a faithful, consistent customer of Patriot Service since I purchased my Impreza in 2017. I have brought my vehicle in for oil changes and required maintenance every 6 months. In 2024, my vehicle was serviced 4 times in 6 months. The first visit (January, 2024)was for an oil change when they noted I needed new front brakes, RF control arm, and RUB bushing for approx. $1100. They completed the work one week later (visit #2, also January 2024). Three months later, (visit #3, April, 2024) I brought my vehicle back to check the rear brakes which had just been replaced 2 years prior - they completed the work and offered a discount. At this time, they also did a multipoint inspection which included checking "tire wear and underbody inspection." Nothing was noted needing repair with the multipoint inspection. Visit #4, July, 2024, within this 6 month period was for a scheduled routine oil change and Maine state inspection. Since I had incurred some medical issues, my car was only driven 448 miles since the Patriot multipoint inspection was done in April. I was expecting an easy pass on the Maine state inspection. I was shocked when the service rep told me my car failed the state inspection and needed $4000 worth of work to pass.(Tires, front and rear struts, LF control arm) I gave permission for the routine oil change and sought out a second opinion for the supposed need for $4000 worth of work. The second opinion agreed I needed new tires but that was all. The bill was $769 for new tires and the inspection. I then went for a tire alignment to a regional service center. I requested that they check the front and rear struts. They confirmed what the second opinion had stated - no need to replace struts. I am very disappointed with Patriot Service. I was totally blindsided by a multipoint inspection in April that did not note tire wear or questionable "underbody inspection" then less than 3 months later and only 448 miles later I am told I needed $4000 worth of work.
