We were recently in the market for a new Honda through AAA's New Car Buying Program, and one of the referred dealers was Pohanka Honda. I received a flood of emails and phone calls asking if I was intere AAA's New Car Buying Program, and one of the referred dealers was Pohanka Honda. I received a flood of emails and phone calls asking if I was interested, and I sent an email response indicating that I would like a comprehensive estimate including tax, tags, and titles in my state. About 24 hours later, the response I received was an inquiry of whether I was still interested. I thanked the dealer for her time but indicated that since I didn't receive a response I had considered other dealers. She responded with a fairly crass email indicating she never received a response and did nothing to try to salvage the deal. I found this conduct to be unprofessional and rude. Also, the poor grammar and spelling errors in the email correspondence leads me to believe this is not a dealer that appreciates quality. More
Awful dealership. They quoted me a price on a vehicle and when I went into purchase vehicle, they said they made a mistake with the price and tacked on another $1,800 to the price. The manager never bothered to come and talk to us, and Mr. Leake knew we were coming into see him, but didn't show up til hours later! Do not go to these con-artists! More

Mr. Aubrey from Pohanka, on the other hand, sent me his final price in a simple email - an itemized quote including all fees and taxes. B> Best Price. Aubrey offered me a deal,it was the best price I had researched out.The final 'out the door' price I paid was the one emailed to me on the 1st day by Mr. Aubrey.No haggling required, simple and straight. C> Service The entire car buying process was smooth.Pohanka had the car ready for me when I got there.I reached around 7pm on a weekday, and the entire process took less than 1.5 - 2 hrs. Mr.Farrare was extremely fair, helpful, courteous and not one bit pushy. I would highly recommend him as well as Pohanka. More
I received a recall notice and call to schedule an appointment. Upon arriving at 7:00 AM, I informed Dean that I would leave the car all day since I was working. He told me that it should take no more than 4 hours. Again I stated that I would return about 4:30 PM. Around 3:00 PM (8 hours after dropping the car off), I received a call from Dean telling me that my car would not be ready today and I could pick it up tomorrow. I told him that I dont have a second vehicle and I would need another mode of transportation. He stated 'Honda does not provide loaner vehicles'. I stated that due to their error, they need to provide me another mode of transporation and I was not taking no for an answer. I also reminded him that he called me with less than 2 hours before I was to pick up the vehicle. Again he kept repeating the phrase "Honda does not provide loaner vehicles and there was nothing he could do to accomodate me". I asked if there was a checklist regarding recalls and the parts needed and if so, had the technician done that before he disassembled my car. He never answered but again stated "my car is not driveable and it would be ready tomorrow when the parts arrived:. After a few choice words on my part, I told him he had two options when I arrive at 4:30 PM: (1) Have my car or (2) Have a loaner. I requested to speak to his manager but he informed me that his manager had gone for the day. I then requested to speak to any manager on duty and he told me no one was available. In my mind I am wondering how does a business operate if there are no managers on duty. I said you need to put me on hold until you find someone that can provide me with a better answer. After 5 minutes on hold, he returned to tell me that they would provide me with a one-day rental. After all of these issues, I do not plan to take my car back to Pohanka Honda of Marlow Heights for any service. I was a loyal customer who took my Accord to their facility for all of my services even oil changes. I felt disrespected and no accomodations were made to rectify the situation until the very last minute. More
I had a great experience. I typically "hate" the car buying experience but this time, it went very well. We got there at 4:30 and we were out of there by 8:15 with a new car. The best thing about Aubrey's customer service was his willingness to conduct transparent business online via e-mail. Whereas other dealers provided misleading information or no information at all, Aubre willingness to conduct transparent business online via e-mail. Most dealers just called and attempted to arrange a meeting to avoid doing business online, but Aubrey honored my stated desire to do business via e-mail. Furthermore, Aubrey continued to provide friendly service in person when I chose to visit the dealership. He allowed for a lengthy test drive including highway testing and he accepted negotiation on the basis of a truecar.com report. In fact, Aubrey quickly agreed to ask his manager to lower the price to match a truecar.com "great deal", which is what I paid. Thus, overall my experience at Pohanka Honda was enjoyably brief and pleasant! More
We had a good overall experience with our recent vehicle purchase from this dealership. We have purchased here three times previously, however the sales representative who we dealt with in the past was no purchase from this dealership. Andrew Kelly is a very pleasant young man and easy to deal with. The sales manager, Ryan Poole, remembered us from our most recent purchase and was also very accommodating. More
I was ready to take advantage of a lease offer from Honda's website. I spoke with a certain salesman at least five times over the phone. Every time I spoke with him, it sounded like he was in a Subwa Honda's website. I spoke with a certain salesman at least five times over the phone. Every time I spoke with him, it sounded like he was in a Subway station and I couldn't hear anything he said. On top of that, he was mumbling as if he were talking in his sleep! It really made it seem like the sale, and my satisfaction, wasn't that important. He could never really quote me specifics over the phone, and then refused to send me specifics over email because he would end up "going through the motions" and then I would take the offer and someone else would price match it at another dealership. Well, not sending me a lease price quote did end up causing me to go to another dealership where I got a much better deal than he would've been able to give me. At least he didn't have to go through the motions. To his credit, I never actually went to the dealership. But for someone who is supposedly an internet salesman, you would think they are used to working out specifics over the internet and not in person! More
Since 1997 we have owned 3 Hondas: a 1995 Accord, 2001 Odyssey and a 2009 Civic. We think Honda makes a great product. However until we bought our Civic from Pohanka Marlow Heights (Bill McGhee)and star Odyssey and a 2009 Civic. We think Honda makes a great product. However until we bought our Civic from Pohanka Marlow Heights (Bill McGhee)and started using their service department we were extremely disappointed in the service we had received from other Honda Dealerships. With other dealerships the repair was rarely done correctly the first time, the car was rarely ready when promised and the cost was much higher than local private mechanics. Pohanka Marlow Heights has completely won us over and we are converts that can't say enough good things about the purchase of our civic and the service and courtesy that we receive from all the staff. His attention to detail and professional temperament is a testament to his character and appreciation for his customers and job. I would be remiss if I did not take the time to also mention another "value - added resource that Pohanka employs, Mr Ralph Dykes. We believe among the many talents and an ability Mr. Dykes brings to the workplace is his meek...but commanding demeanor. That is, his ability to defuse uncomfortable situations to enforce a sense of calmness by all parties involved. Mr. Dykes has been instrumental in assisting us with insurance claims, warranty issues, and recalls that were identified by Honda America. In all cases, he along with his advisor (Mr. Rivera) took their time to explain and then in most cases to suggest a trip to the work bay to show the issue and fix firsthand on the vehicle. In closing, we live in Springfield, Virginia and the Fairfax Honda facility is much closer to our home. The fact that we have discovered such wonderful professional service under the leadership of Mr. Dykes and our trusted service advisor Mr. Rivera is the reason we sacrifice a little extra time and gas money to allow Pohanka Honda to service our car. Thank you both for a job well done and making customers like us completely satisfied. More
