I took my car in for a routine 40K mile service. The only request was checking a sticking a/c switch. I later received an estimate for over $10K! The a/c switch couldn't be replaced since it is part of a modular unit that would cost $2700 to replace. I had to also reject other maintenance recommendations for the time being due to the exorbitant cost. I consented to the basic service of $3300, which was still considerably larger than I would have originally thought. Who would have thought that a basic oil change would cost $600! I think the dealership is fine for warranty work, but I will be looking for an independent shop with lower overhead for future maintenance work. More
