I found Red McCombs Hyundai through my company's benefits page (Beneplace). When I used the service to find the vehicle I wanted, I was contacted in (very) short order - via email - by a sales associate tha page (Beneplace). When I used the service to find the vehicle I wanted, I was contacted in (very) short order - via email - by a sales associate that was very pleasant to talk to. He explained the offer price that he emailed over - told me that it included $100 off for being a Beneplace user - and per the email, he said that the offer would be good for 5-6 days....I don't remember exactly offhand. I arrived the next day to take a look at the vehicle and take it for a test drive. Loved the test drive and the sales associate that I was working with (same associate that I had spoken to the day before) was knowledgeable enough. I had done a ton of research and I knew that he was bluffing his way through some of my questions....but I used to work at a dealership, I get it....it's a tough gig - too many nuances across vehicle lineups to remember them all. Got back from the test drive, and started talking numbers, and the numbers were a lot (A LOT) higher than what I was sent in the email - and the email had said that the stated price would be honored for 5-6 days. The sales associate told me that the price in the email included a discount that had expired overnight. I knew at that moment that Red McCombs was working the good ole' bait and switch. Tell ya one thing and then feed you something else. AKA - LYING. But I went with it anyhow, because the price that we settled on was what everyone else was advertising, and I didn't feel like starting the process over. I didn't pay an unfair price on the vehicle that I purchased, but I didn't get the deal that I drove into San Antonio (an hour from my home) to get. Red McCombs will not be on the list of dealerships that I look at in the future when it's time to purchase another vehicle because of this, and knowing what I know about dealerships (I have worked at several) if they are willing to be this obvious about their horrid sales tactics, there are likely other things cooking below the surface that I ignored to get this deal over with that may or may not truly hurt other buyers. Buyer beware. More
The entire process was easy and short - two words I had never really thought about when purchasing a car! Great customer service, just an oil change, but was done in a timely manner. The only negative is that I had a pretty big grease mark on the side of my car when I got it back, could have at least wiped it o in a timely manner. Management took the time to up-date me on the time I would be waiting & current status of estimated time required for the repair once it was in the repair bay.
