He was so pleasant, knowledgeable, understanding, and all around great. We did purchase the vehicle, which we absolutely love, and the young man really made all the difference in buying this vehicle. He made the whole process not only effortless but actually enjoyable. We wouldn’t hesitate to buy another vehicle from them. Also Emily, in finance was wonderful and Jordan showed us how to run all the gadgets, he was great which rounded off this fabulous trio we dealt with to really make a memorable experience for us. I bought an Ioniq 5 limited that I reserved a month before arriving from Shaker's. I am an out of state buyer and this car is one of the hottest cars in the world with 1 year wait lists. We reached a good deal on the car and trade as a one stop deal What I was very happy about was the lack of surprises. There was a 5 week gap between when my trade was valued (via 10 photos and a Vin) and the deal being done. They honored that price despite the 1200 miles of extra miles and a drop in used car prices. The dealership experience was good, with a very modern building with a lounge area that was as nice as many luxury brands. The staff was very attentive, offering a coffee, water, and making sure I was well taken care of during the stay. The finance manager was good with a friendly and no nonsense demeanor. He offered their packages accepted my answers without issues. He was thorough, with backups for when I got something wrong signing documents. The interest rates were not the best (nor did they take outside financing) but that's a problem I can manage. I was in and out with plates and car safety seats transferred in about 2 hours from my appointment start time. I made a stop in the parts department to buy a NFC key. The representative there was knowledgeable and located the part despite the computer system not updated for this model. Paul offered the full tour /set up experience which I declined (over booked a day to drive 120 miles, buy a car, drive 30 miles see family friends, drive 20 miles, see more friends before driving 150 miles home with my first fast charge en route. Paul followed up over the phone and text multiple times over the course of the afternoon. I definitely appreciated knowing I had local support available if I had troubles. More
My wife and I purchased a 2019 Hyundai Sonata on 4/25 from Shakers Hyundai in Watertown. We chose to use our own financing which was a much better rate than Hyundai so I had to do a little legwork myself. It was Friday morning and I needed a formal PO to complete the process at my bank so we could pick up the car which we had targeted for Saturday. Upon calling Shakers my salesman had the day off but was assured Charlie would get me the PO in a few minutes. I waited till the afternoon and was told by the same person that Charlie would get it right over to me. Needless to say I never heard from anyone the rest of the day. To my knowledge this is not a time consuming job to plug a few numbers into a box which calculates automatically but apparently a big job for Charlie. The following Monday I called my salesperson and got the PO in 10 minutes, had financing in an hour, and was prepared to pick up the car that night, so we scheduled it for 5:30. We arrived a few minutes early and waited well over an hour before signing the paperwork. After the transaction was complete we were informed that they could not find the second key, which is mandatory on a CPO vehicle, but was told they would get in touch when found and give a call. Almost a week goes by and I have not heard from Shakers so I called my salesman and he said he had it on his desk. I went and picked up the key. I should have known then by the lack of communication that this was a less than professional operation. The nest issues were regarding call backs because paperwork was not filled out properly by the Shakers business department. The first was because the names were entered incorrectly. Between my wife working 12 hour shifts at a hospital and me working out of town the earliest we could there together was a Saturday morning. I explained I needed to be there at 9 and be out promptly because I had a 9:45 meeting 30 miles away. We got there at 9 and no salesman who arranged this. He strolls in at 9:06 like nothing was wrong and by the time anyone knew what was going on I was 15 minutes late for my meeting. The second call back was a few weeks later because they failed to get my wife’s signature on one of the documents. Only three call backs after the sale…not bad with no apology. As a matter of fact Ed Shaker was more concerned about blaming the state for changing laws, which had nothing to do with any of these situations, than accepting responsibility. On 6/15 I called the service department to schedule an oil change which I assumed was no big deal, but at Shakers it is. I could not get an appointment until7/12 so I opted to go our local repair shop who scheduled me for the next day and had it done. I called again on 7/14 because there were some brake issues which surfaced shortly after purchase but was going to have handled on my first oil change but we know what happened there so I was able to get an appointment for 8/10 at which time I was told I needed brakes and rotors. After 3.5 months that sounds unreasonable so I again spoke too Ed Shaker, who is less than impressive by the way, and he explained it would be at my expense. After explaining the scheduling issues he was unsympathetic. I even explained that this is my fifth Hyundai. He asked if I purchased them all at Shakers to which I responded no. His response to that was “Then I don’t care”. Not exactly what I would have expected…or maybe I should have. There was always a hesitancy on my part to purchase from Shakers and now I know why. I was choosing between an on line purchase but decided the right thing to do is to support local business. I am currently convinced that was not the best decision. Buying transparently may be good for Shakers but the worst shopping experience of my life regardless of the industry. More
