Used Car Buying Experience After about 6 weeks of searching, visiting other dealerships and dealing with new and used car salesmen, I was beginning to think I might not find the After about 6 weeks of searching, visiting other dealerships and dealing with new and used car salesmen, I was beginning to think I might not find the truck I wanted for the price I could afford. Then, through Carsoup or Autotrade (can't remember which) a hit which seemed too good to be true. I placed a request for more information and literally within a few minutes received a phone call. That evening my wife and I met with Joel Hammen. Test drive went well and we began to discuss price. When things got serious Brad Nelson, as sales manager, became involved. They moved very little on price. Fortunately, from all of my recent shopping as well as online price research, I understood this truck was priced fairly. I agreed to purchase with contingency that my mechanic inspect the vehicle and that I be allowed to speak with the prior owner (the truck was a recent trade-in). Initially I was not provided the prior owner's contact information. I was allowed to take the truck to my mechanic who performed a very complete inspection. Some issues were discovered which only the prior owner could explain. Eventually I was allowed to contact him and the concerns raised by my mechanic were put to rest. Pre-approved for financing through my credit union, the dealership asked to compete for the financing and beat my credit union's interest rate by nearly a quarter percent. Of course, in the finance office, we were subjected to the usual pressure to purchase extended warranty and the like. We did not. I NEVER feel as though I received a good deal when buying a car or truck. Expensive and they become obsolete so quickly. Walking away from Joel Hammen & Bad Nelson at Sheboygan Auto, I can definitely say I feel much more comfortable than usual. I plan to drive the truck just purchased for many years (just sold my 22 year old Ford Ranger) and while I expect the normal expenses which come with automobile ownership, every month that passes without problems will build growing confidence in this dealership; will cause me to tell others about my experience and may, some day, bring me back for my next vehicle purchase. Time will tell. More

This particular situation was unique because I was having a difficult time finding the right Jeep Wrangler. There are too many available Jeeps in Sheboygan county being delivered by competing dealerships that offer you an extremely attractive price. Unfortunately once you do the homework you realize you are either purchasing a bad title or questionable history (odometer, crash, etc) from Canada. I have NEVER experienced this with either new or used vehicles within SCC. I was pleased that Joel Hammen encouraged me to order a new Jeep straight from the factory. It was a seamless and rather fun experience and I was also able to save a lot of $$ by avoiding any unwanted options. The after sale service is fantastic as well. I received a thorough inspection and walk thru when the vehicle was delivered. I have appreciated using their quality service center in the past. I highly recommend Joel. He is friendly, professional, and gets to the point finding what you need. More
